Hi, I’m Yusuf, and I’d love the opportunity to serve as your 2nd year representative on the MSRC.

You’ll probably know me as one of the “APL warriors”, (often one of the last to leave), but that’s just reflective of my commitment and involvement with the Medical School. I’m an approachable individual and can’t wait to create a more positive environment that puts you and your needs first.

I’ve worked in the NHS since Year 11, and I’m currently a Patient Care Advisor in urgent care, working across various urgent treatment centres / GP Out of hours / contact centre in West Yorkshire. The role has strengthened my communication, organisation and interpersonal skills; transferable to this role to represent you well!

I’ve always been involved in Student Voice, from being elected to the Student Council every year from Y7-13, to being a prefect student in Sixth Form and the Chair of the Academic Subdivision of the Senior Committee. I’m currently the Year Rep at Access2Med and a Health Sciences Student Ambassador, so I already have experience in communicating with the Medical School and collaboration with staff.

If elected, I will ensure your voices are heard, concerns are followed up on and that you are represented.

As a current first-year medical student, I am eager to serve as a year representative, bridging communication between the medical school and the student body. I am committed to acting in the interests of my fellow students, drawing attention to their concerns, and giving voice to their opinions. Hi, my name is Mikayla, and I would really appreciate your vote for one of the MSRC Year 2 reps. I am deeply committed to student advocacy and fostering inclusive, supportive learning environments. Throughout my academic journey, I’ve taken on leadership roles that have sharpened my ability to listen, communicate, and act effectively on behalf of others.
In sixth form, I was a senior prefect, a mentor, and chairperson of the charity committee. In these roles, I supported younger students, helped promote a positive school culture, and led several fundraising campaigns that brought together students and staff in support of local and national causes. These experiences taught me how to lead a team, manage priorities, and stay focused under pressure. I also founded Voice 4 Change; a student initiative aimed at supporting marginalised peers and raising awareness of social issues. This experience solidified my passion for inclusion and student representation.
During my gap year, I worked as an NHS administrator in a surgical department, where I developed strong communication skills, time management, and the ability to work under pressure. I've also volunteered in various settings, including on a haematology ward, where I connected with patients and gained insight into the human side of healthcare.
I pride myself on being approachable, organised, and a strong team player. I hold an ILM Level 2 Award in Effective Team Member Skills and have worked with diverse teams across various environments. Outside academics, I’m an active member of both the cricket and tennis teams, which have helped me develop discipline, resilience, and a collaborative spirit.
If elected, I will work hard to represent our year group, ensure your voices are heard, and help organise meaningful initiatives. I would be honoured to have the opportunity to be involved with MSRC next year.

Hey everyone!
I’m Beiwen Fu, and I’d love to be your Year 2 MSRC Rep. You might have seen me around—maybe at INSPIRE, Xposure, or study sessions (yes, I’m the one with too many highlighters). Or maybe we haven’t met yet, but here’s the thing: I genuinely care about making this year better for all of us.
I’ve spent years learning how to listen, organize, and get things done. In my last year of school, I was one of just 12 prefects trusted to lead—showing up on time (always), solving problems, and bringing creative ideas to the table. Now, as Head of Communications for FANS Foundation (500+ people), I don’t just manage teams—I build connections, fix issues before they blow up, and make sure everyone’s on the same page.
And outside of formal roles? I’ve translated medical textbooks for students in China because I believe everyone deserves access to education. If I’ll do that for strangers, imagine how hard I’ll work for you—my actual classmates.
Got feedback about exams, lectures, or anything else? I won’t just pass it along—I’ll follow up until something changes. I’ll make sure we’re informed. No more "wait, that deadline changed?!" surprises—I’ll keep everyone updated, clearly and fast. I’ll fight for fairness. Unclear exam policies? Uneven grading? I’m not afraid to push back (politely but firmly).
I’m running because I want our year to feel supported, connected, and heard. So if you want a rep who shows up, speaks up, and gets stuff done, I’m asking for your vote.
