Hi, I’m James Hathaway, a medical student with a passion for getting involved across both academic and sporting societies. Over my time here, I’ve taken part in a wide range of activities—from table tennis to Muay Thai—giving me a broad appreciation for the diversity and energy our societies bring to student life.

I’m excited to run for Societies Rep because I see this role as a unique opportunity to support and connect the amazing variety of MSRC-affiliated groups we have. I’m especially keen to help bring back Varsity, an event that hasn’t run in recent years but has the potential to be a highlight of the calendar. With the right organisation and promotion, I believe it could be a huge success and a fantastic showcase of student talent and team spirit.

Beyond events, I’m committed to being a reliable and approachable main point of contact for all societies and sports teams. I’m looking forward to working alongside the MSRC executive team to keep everything running smoothly—from Freshers’ Fair to the Worsley Awards—and making sure every group feels supported.

If elected, I’ll bring a strong work ethic, dedication, and a genuine enthusiasm for getting stuck in and finishing what I start. I’d love the chance to represent and advocate for the societies that make our student experience so vibrant.
