With Lulu as coach, I am running for Beginners and Development Women’s Captain. After years of just chucking balls across the garden to Lara, I decided to make my lax debut in September 2022 when I joined Holly and Nancy’s Beginners session. Being part of lacrosse has changed my uni experience in such a positive way. Not only have can I finally see off my pint, but I’ve made incredible friends I see outside of socials, and of course, learnt a new sport. Can I now say Live Love Lax? In fact, we’re so dedicated to the social, you’ll find me and Lulu in the studio on a Thursday morning regretting that extra jager with the remnants of a sharpied F still on our foreheads…

Lulu and I are passionate about expanding the club, so we want to form a 4s team which I will captain and Lulu will coach. The 4s will train at the same time as the Beginners. We want to create this development team to encourage this year’s beginners to return in September, and be able to play in matches. As captain, I will play for both the beginners and the development team in their matches, which Lulu will come to as well as our coach. Of course, we will be encouraging our beginners to join socials and will be revelling in the fact that I can finally tell a fresher to neck it as I’ve had to endure from Nancy…

I have what it takes to be captain of the Beginners and Development Team because I am living proof of how easy it can be to learn a sport from scratch, if you are dedicated and motivated. I will be a relatable role model for the new beginners of 2023/4 because I have experienced what they will go through. Lulu and I are fun, non-judgemental and approachable girls, qualities not only needed for artists, but captains and coaches of the Beginners. I truly believe there are so many benefits of learning a new sport, and the importance of having fun and not taking life too seriously! Together we would create a supportive and positive environment, which would hopefully make a big difference to the new beginners in making them feel welcomed and integrated into the society.

MIA AND LUCI FOR BEGINNERS AND DEVELOPMENT COACHES 💚💚💚

Hi Lax lovers, I’m Mia and I am hoping to be your beginners and development coach alongside one of the firsts MVPs Luci (aka Robbo). I’m currently in first year studying law although my lacrosse ability is significantly better than my legal ability given the amount of lectures I am too hungover to attend. 🤢🍾

Having played on the 1s with Luci for almost a year, we have become (as many of you know), inseparable, to the point where Luci got with someone in mischief whilst holding my hand because she didn’t want to leave me🥰. Whilst we are committed to each other, we are even more committed to lacrosse and wish to use my defensive knowledge and Luci’s attacking knowledge to help those just starting out in this fabulous sport. I promise to be dedicated to this role unlike Luci and I are to socials. 🤞🏼🤞🏼

We both wish to inspire those new to the sport and cause them to become #livelovelaxers. Being part of the lacrosse community has made my uni experience the best I could have ever wished for; it gave me lifelong friends, fun and even caused my pint time to improve (although I’m sure our social secs will probably tell you it’s still extremely disappointing 🫣). I hope that as coaches me and Luci will help new players have the same amazing experience we had. As I play defence and Luci plays attack we believe we can create drills that will be fun but also be tailored to help develop everyone’s skills AND maybe even lead to more defenders… 😍😍😍

We both have what it takes to be great beginners and development coaches because we have prior experience coaching. In school I helped to coach and umpire both pop and regular lacrosse. This means I have the knowledge of working with beginners before and makes me believe I would be great for this role. Me and Luci have a strong passion for this sport having both played since year 7 and I hope we can make others fall in love with the sport as we did ❤️❤️❤️❤️ and lead them to continue playing throughout life - ONCE A LAXER ALWAYS A LAXER. We would love to organise more matches next year and you can count on us to be cheering on the sidelines as we tend to get very involved, in my case sometimes too enthusiastic. 🤪

We are fun, approachable and encouraging and hope to create a fun playing environment whilst also leading our team to victory #WINNINGWEDNESDAYS🎉🎉 if we can organise some matches.

MIA AND LUCI FOR BEGINNERS AND DEVELOPMENT COACHES 💚💚💚💚💚💚

💚 Luci and Mia for Lacrosse beginners and development 💚

Heyyy, I’m Luci and I’m running for beginners and development coach next year alongside my northern partner in crime Mia. I’m currently a first year student studying human physiology which I’m surprisingly still doing considering I failed my maths and chemistry exam earlier on in the year😔

Despite failing that though, I haven’t failed at improving my pint downing time from just under a minute to 25 seconds. 🤩 I know it’s still bad but it’s much better than it was. The improvement in my drinking ability is the level of improvement I’d like to help new players achieve in lacrosse next year 🥍🌟

I have been playing for the 1s this year alongside Mia and when combined we have knowledge in both attacking and defending areas, with Mia a defender and myself an attacker. This means we will have the knowledge to create a range of drills for all positions, levels and abilities as well as keeping it fun and interesting. Not only would this create a versatile team but a 🏆WINNING 🏆one too.

This season we have been committed to training sessions and matches even when still taking penicillin and antibiotics for chest infections and tonsillitis. We also mustn’t forget about Mia’s 4 month long cough and broken rib. This shows the level of commitment we would have to the training sessions on a Thursday which is an essential aspect in this role.

I believe both Mia and I are approachable and non-judgemental people who want to help others achieve the same level of enjoyment we have felt playing Lacrosse for Leeds this year. 💚🌟We’d love to continue organising matches next year and follow in the fabulous work of Holly and Nancy to continue expanding the sport we all love!!! 🥍

Heyyyy im Lulu, (no it’s not short for anything) and i’m running for ✨✨BEGINNERS AND DEVELOPMENT ✨✨✨alongside Sophie. I’m a first year attempting to study Fine Art as you will just about never find me in any studio or lecture especially after Wednesday nights. However I am more commonly found avoiding the cricket corner of popworld, leaving mischief early after being drunk texted, being papped by rosie, or being bossed around by Sophie Hugh

I have been playing with the 1s/2s this season and hope to be able to help expand the club through beginners and development, potentially giving more players the opportunity to play in BUCS on Wednesday and be involved with the club! Being part of lacrosse this year has not only given me something to do with my time, but has also been the most fun i’ve had alongside the most incredible girls and is SO much better than any other society, (as i would know after quitting hockey after 1 session) and I would love for more people to be a part of that experience!

Not only does coaching beginners and development give me another opportunity to check out the boys at Weetwood on Thursdays, but Sophie and I would really be focusing on trying to develop a 4s team, of which she would captain and i would be able to coach; alongside the beginners, encouraging last years B&D to come back and be able to play in more matches as they are more experienced ( whilst playing alongside the new, and returning beginners, who would be able to experience what it is like being a part of leeds lacrosse!).

Although I am regularly told i have a resting bitch face, I promise I am so approachable! I love meeting new people, am always up for a chat with anyone, and know what it feels like to be absolutely terrified to join a new society (as i was too at the start of the year) so will always be inclusive. I believe together, Sophie and I could create such a fun and welcoming atmosphere for all players! We are both extremely dedicated to the club (not only to outfits on Wednesday nights) but all training sessions too, (with Sophie being one of the only beginners to show up to almost all of the monday fitness sessions) and I believe we could work really well at this role together.

I love being a part of this club and can’t wait for next year to see (and play) with new and familiar faces at training !!!
