As someone who has always had a passion for making a difference in the world🌎, my focus is YOU and how i can make an impact to enhance your experience during your journey to success.

Being Events Secretary is a crucial role within the WILS Society which is in demand for a PRO-ACTIVE, ORGANISED and DRIVEN member✨📌🚀! Recognising these, I have nominated myself because I am confident that I have the skills, experience and DEVOTION to fulfil the role and guide WILS to success!

Here are some of my experiences and skills I have fostered during them that will aid me during my time as Events Secretary:

📋 Former College Student Executive Member: Being the student body and voice of 3000+ students placed high levels of RESPONSIBILITY on my shoulders. Hosting events such as 90s Day🕺, Culture Week🇵🇭 and Valentine's Day♥️, organising and working with my team became SECOND NATURE by the time I completed my time in college and I am ready to bring my ideas and abilities to the floor.

👩‍💼Nike Sales Associate: Working for one of the LARGEST companies in the world with almost 2 years SALES EXPERIENCE, having a job that is focused on one to one interactions with customers has helped develop my ability to SOCIALISE confidently💛, COMMUNICATE clearly 🗣️and build RAPPORT with a wide range of customers while maintaining professionalism in fast paced environments.

💄Founder of Pure Solé Beauty: having a small business in the beauty industry, i independently MANAGE client services📆, BRANDING 🎨 and OPERATIONS 📊. This experience has developed my entrepreneurial mindset, creativity and strong leadership in delivering high quality, client faced results. ✨

With my combination of SKILLS, DRIVE and PASSION, I am confident in my ability to take on this responsibility and contribute positively to WILS Society. Hi, I’m Deeva Baldwa, and I’m running for Events Secretary for the Women in Leadership Society.

Here are some of the experiences I’ve had and the skills I’ve developed that I believe will help me in the role of Events Secretary:

⭐Co-founded REVEL, a high-profile event management company, where I played a key role in organising large-scale events and contributing to projects associated with Fashion Week.

⭐Vice President of the Food Science and Nutrition Society, leading the planning and organisation of events for members and the committee, including scheduling, managing logistics and venue bookings, and promoting events across social media to ensure strong engagement

For me, events are what truly bring a society to life. They’re where strangers become friends, ideas turn into conversations, and confidence starts to grow. More importantly its where women support each other, feel empowered, and build something meaningful together. I want to create events that we genuinely look forward to and feel excited for. For example:

⭐SPEED MENTORING with female leaders - a chance to have real, honest conversations and get genuine advice

⭐THE PITCH ROOM -an opportunity to share your ideas, build confidence, and get feedback from people with real experience.

⭐NETWORKING BRUNCHES— relaxed, low-pressure spaces to meet new people and have good conversations.

⭐PERSONAL BRANDING WORKSHOPS -helping people feel more confident in how they present themselves and building practical skills

⭐UNFILTERED WOMEN TALK' series- open discussions around things we all experience, like imposter syndrome, working in male-dominated spaces, and balancing ambition with pressure

⭐GLOBAL WEEK IN LEADERSHIP WEEK - Celebrating International Women's Day through collaborations, networking, and high-impact events.

⭐MOVIE NIGHTS WITH DISCUSSIONS - watching powerful female-led films and talking about them with our peers.

As a second-year Electronic and Computer Engineering student, I am applying for the role of Events Secretary because I want to help make the society more active, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone. I understand that this role involves much more than just coming up with event ideas; it requires planning and organising socials, managing schedules, handling logistics, promoting events effectively, and making sure everything runs smoothly for both members and the committee. I would take this role seriously and put real effort into creating well-organised, inclusive, and enjoyable events, while ensuring clear backup plans and good communication throughout.

Alongside this, with the help of my degree, I’ve mastered the concept of problem-solving, and I am confident in my skills of thinking practically, staying organised, and handling unexpected issues calmly. All of which would be especially useful when planning events, managing logistics, and making sure everything runs smoothly. I also believe that as an engineering student, this would help me come up with creative ideas, a fresh perspective, and a genuine commitment to the role.
