This role is important in maximising club growth: as sponsorship sec it is your job to obtain sponsorship and support to fund the development of the club. From kit to travel expenses, this all needs to be paid for and increasing club income benefits all club members and improves member experience.

Most funding should be secured before the start of term in order to support our teams and coaches. Therefore, the majority of the work should be done towards the end of the 2024 season in preparation for the following season. Summer holidays are very useful for sponsorship set up and in term time there is more focus on charities. Although, during term time companies may still reach out with sponsorship opportunities which you should always be on top of.

The club looks for sponsorship from companies and fundraises in a variety of ways such as a charity walk. You will need good written and verbal communication skills as you are required to work closely with business professionals, the union and other societies. For the coming year it will be important to maintain a good working relationship with Pickard’s but also to obtain new sponsors. The sponsorship secs also work closely with media sec to ensure social media contract requirements are met.

Apart from funding for the club, sponsorship secretary is also responsible for raising money for charities. In the past year LUUWRUFC has worked with Oddballs, Freedom4girls, and MIND. As sponsorship sec it is your job to organise charity fundraising as well as other community outreach such as “fitfeb”. This role would be perfect for anyone who is looking for experience in business communications, has a passion for charity fundraising and wants to put the development of the club first.
