This role has changed for the 2024/25 year and beyond, in an effort to expand the typical duties of Secretary into a wider role of Vice Club Captain to further support the CC. The Vice Club captain will have specific organisation duties as well as working with exec and the rest of the committee in making important club decisions and with the everyday running of the club. It is important to be present at all major events and weekly training sessions because, as exec, if there are ever any issues it is your responsibility to step up.

Being part of exec is something to take great pride in – you are a representative of the club and the wider rugby community and should be a role model to everybody else within the club. Exec often get presented with a range of different decisions to make and issues to resolved but as exec, it is your responsibility to step up and make decisions, which can be difficult at times, so efficient communication, approachability and being level-headed is key. As exec, you will also often liase with LUU around the working and running with the club to maintain the good relationship that has been built over the years.

The specific task-based duties of VCC are the following:

  1. Booking Coaches for Away Matches. This involves liaising with the coordinators to ensure that the coach is booked correctly for away matches. This will sometimes involve contacting other societies going to the same destination as sharing buses saves a lot of money for the club.
  2. Paying Referees. This involves booking and contacting the referees for each Home Match, confirming details of the match. You will then ensure that the referee gets paid, which is reimbursed by the club.
  3. Managing the LUUWRUFC Email. This is quite self-explanatory, but you will monitor the LUUWRUFC email and reply to any emails.
  4. Organise end of season. You will liaise with your choice of venue to organise and present end of season, which is a pinnacle of the LUUWRUFC calendar and want everyone to have a fun time.
  5. Smaller responsibilities of the VCC include designing and organising committee and coaching stash.
