The role of beginner racing captains is to oversee and manage the training, wellbeing and organisation of the beginner racing squad. Duties include planning weekly crews, helping Dan with race crews and keeping in regular contact with members. It is important that whoever takes this role is organised, communicative and approachable. As this squad is made up of new club members, it is important to create an encouraging and welcoming environment. Given this squad is new to rowing, whoever takes on this role should make clear the expectations and aims, the training timetable and how the squad is managed. As always, a close eye should be kept on wellbeing and welfare - communication is key!
