Hi UMLers!!!!!

Serving as your VP alongside our incredible committee, I've spearheaded numerous UML initiatives, deepening my understanding of its operations and affirming my readiness to lead as President.

At the start of my term in September, I lost my Dad/ Best Friend/ my family’s resident DJ to cancer which was super shit to say the least, but UML became instrumental in my healing process - offering an outlet during a challenging time. After deciding to delay my studies in November, I then got a job at LUU, curating Creative Wellbeing initiatives. This allowed me to gain valuable insights into funding avenues, wellbeing strategies, and maximising our union's potential as a Society.

Taking strategies learned working in Marketing for Adobe, LEEDS2023 and Jäegermeister, we have over doubled our membership base, fostering a thriving community. With this, comes the need for more funding and I would love to carry through my plans to secure this for us. I would use this funding to revamp our setup, grow our collection (focusing on diversity), and offer subsidisation for Plus Program members when required.

Channeling my first job, working for Abbey Road Studios as an intern Runner/Producer, I have thoroughly enjoyed nurturing budding music talents within UML, and am currently working on bringing back Library Sessions this year, with the hope to make it more regular.

I spend many a weekend organising our space with volunteers and Juniper and believe this has enhanced accessibility and usability. In my next term, I would prioritise more thorough training for Volunteers.

Recently I have Invested in educational resources addressing marginalisation in the music industry and hope to broaden this initiative. I also hope to help underrepresented groups gain opportunities in the music industry.

Having traveled to 20 countries at uni, using only the money from my bursary, I’d love to arrange ‘UML on Tour’ to broaden your musical horizons and find funky places abroad on a student budget!

I also plan on bringing back Sunday Slump and partnering with record stores across Leeds for socials, such as a Vinyl Scavenger Hunt.

I would be stoked to continue all the great things this year’s committee have been doing and am very passionate about this role.
