I’m Evangeline, a first year History and Ancient History student!
I would be suitable for the role of social media secretary as I believe that it is the best way to show the hard work the other committee members put into events and encourage more people to go.
Building off the success of the past year, I would continue to post consistently about upcoming events and talks and expand onto other platforms such as TikTok.
I believe this role comes with the responsibility to keep people informed of important historical events as well as ways that history is commemorated such as LGBTQ+ History month/ Women’s History Month. Being apart of the committee would be the best way for me to show my passion as a historian and allow me to build other skills and take a more active role in the society and subject.

Hi, my name is Heidi Shapton and I am currently in first year studying History BA. I am passionate about making the society’s information clear, accessible and engaging for all members and I would love the opportunity to help grow our social media presence in a creative and inclusive way. I aim to do this by staying engaged with current media trends and including other members of our society to ensure that a wide variety of perspectives are represented. I also wish to increase the amount of posting on the instagram and perhaps expanding to other social media platforms. Moreover, this position would give me valuable experience and allow me to build practical skills in content creation, communication and audience engagement which I hope to apply to a career in social media and marketing later in life. I would be great for this position due to my enthusiasm for social media and history as well as the fact that I am a people person and would love the opportunity to engage with more members of our society.
