For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Daniel. I’m a second year Computer Science student going into a cybersecurity placement year with West Yorkshire Police.

I have been a participating member for 2 years now, and I am eager to take on the role of Treasurer to ensure the financial stability and growth of the society. With my strong numerical skills and love for the society and its people, I am confident in my ability to manage the funds effectively.

I have been told that I can be quite strong-willed, which I think will help in making the tough decisions that would be expected of me in this role. I will be open to hearing from all of you as to where you think money should be spent and where it could be saved. I will make all these decisions with the best interests of the society and its future at their core.

I know that not all members attend every event, whether that be out of choice or limited ticket availability. So, I will make a conscious effort to ensure that subsidy is distributed fairly across the wide variety of events the society provides.

As I have learnt from my degree so far, being able to adapt constantly and learning new technologies on a monthly and sometimes weekly basis is a major key to success in the course. No matter how much planning is done for the year’s budget, unexpected costs are almost certainly going to appear at some point. I have no doubt that I can use this acquired skill to my advantage in adapting the budget to whatever is thrown my way.

The motorsport society has provided me with most of my social life throughout my time at university so far, and I will forever be grateful as to what it has given me in self-confidence. I had never karted before university and – although my bank balance may disagree – I have the society to thank for this new hobby. My aim with taking on this role is to give back and help in any way that I can to provide new members with the same warm welcome that was given to me.

Hi, I’m Hari Sukumar, a first-year mathematics student, and I’m very excited to be running for the position of treasurer this year.
This year has been one of the best years of my life, and the motorsport society has been such a massive part of my time in Leeds. Everyone in the society has made me feel as if I’ve been there for three years already, and that’s allowed me to make such strong friendships and memories that I know will last a lifetime. This is something I’d like to pass on to future members of the society, and that’s a large part of my reasoning for running for this position.
Current committee members have done a fantastic job, in my opinion, this past year, working together to successfully achieve the best interests of the society as a whole, and that is something I’d like to contribute to, and give back for after everything that has been done for me in the past year. As treasurer of the society, I’d be focusing on managing the budget for the society, something I’ve had experience with previously. Furthermore, I would be involved in making sure that anyone who gives up their time to drive to the many events that the society puts on for us are fairly, and quickly, paid for any expenses that they may have to deal with, such as fuel. All of these tasks, I feel, are well suited to my skill set, through experience I’ve gained over the years, in both mathematics and work placements in accountancy firms and business finance departments, making me familiar with the task at hand.
If I were to be elected, I’d make sure to maintain the high standards set by Lewis over the past year. Making sure that the society receives the funding required to continue doing the TDY and enduro karting events, rallies, socials, and more that we all want to participate in will be crucial to the success of the society. Furthermore, I’d make sure that any payments to our members are paid promptly. As I’ve mentioned, during my work placement, I gained valuable skills on Microsoft Excel, that I feel will help me effectively and efficiently manage the budget of the society, making sure that you as members are getting the most out of our society. Making the society better for all motorsport fans in Leeds is a top priority of mine, and I hope I’m given the chance to make a positive impact on it.
I’m seeing this opportunity as a way to give back to the society that has been such a help to me over the past year. Making sure that the society runs as well as, if not better than, it has done, prior to this in future years is something I’m very passionate about, as I want to make sure that any new motorsport enthusiasts have the same warm welcome that I received. I am Morgan, a first year studying Geography with Transport Studies.

This society has been a large part of what has been a really great first year here in Leeds, so now I would like the chance to be a part of running it!

This year I have taken part in the Tour de Yorkshire, raced in the BUKC and have been to all the F1 watchalongs, even those 4am starts!

As treasurer, I aim to manage the society budget effectively to make the best use of funds in what is, unfortunately, an expensive sport.

Hi, I’m Grace, a second-year Physics student, and I’ve been a proud member of the Motorsport Society for two years. This society has given me some of the most incredible experiences, from spectating various BUKC & TDY rounds, attending different Motorsport events such as the Donnington rally and competing in karting GIAGs. I’ve seen firsthand how much effort goes into making these events happen, and I’d love the opportunity to help keep them running smoothly as your Treasurer.

Managing the society’s budget effectively is key to ensuring we can continue to offer a diverse range of racing and social opportunities. I’d be a great fit for treasurer as I am an extremely organised person and I have previous experiences in similar roles that I could bring to the society.

For example, since 2022, I have planned and run community summer holiday programs for children at my local library. These programs involved events such as coding classes, robot racing and craft workshops. For each event, I had to order/rent supplies and track based on different budgets each year and track the overall finances throughout.

Since then, I have started my Physics MSc which involves lots of data handling and processing- specifically boosting my skills in excel. This made my job in the summer a lot easier, since I could track finances more efficiently and quickly identify and correct any problems that arose.

With this experience, I think I’d be a great fit for Treasurer. I am extremely confident in my ability to work with the committee to plan a budget that supports both existing events and new opportunities. Most importantly, I’d be dedicated to making sure the society’s finances are handled in a way that directly benefits you, the members.

I am a maths student with a strong understanding of numbers, budgeting, and problem solving, skills that are essential for managing the society’s finances effectively. Coming from a family with a background in finance, I believe this experience will help me make a positive impact as Treasurer.
If elected, I will work to allocate funds efficiently, ensuring that the society remains financially stable while maximizing opportunities for all members. I want to help secure sponsorships to bring in additional funding, allowing us to better invest in events and resources. My priority is to make sure that we can run the best events possible while keeping costs as low as we can, so that everyone can get involved without financial barriers.
Beyond event funding, I will ensure the society's finances remain transparent and well-organised, allowing for long-term stability and growth. A strong financial foundation will not only support the current members but also secure opportunities for future members to enjoy and contribute to the society.
