🥰There is no doubt that my chosen degree is very time consuming and can make having a social life hard. Despite this, I have made time for the motorsport society because of the things it has to offer. This society has made me feel welcomed, accepted and has allowed me to connect with people I never thought i’d get the chance too. I will hold my hands in the air and admit that I only got into Formula 1 because of my boyfriend but as my love for F1 developed so did my love for all things motorsport, including Charles Leclerc.I have thoughrougly enjoyed the rallies and the casual drinks at old bar after. The socials, both sober and not so sober have all been fantastic and have created so many wonderful memories for me. It is because of all these things that I wish to dedicate the time I do have, adding to the legacy of this outstanding society. So that any impact I do make, might make someone else, whether that be freshers or the already loyal motorsport lovers, feel the way I do, like I have a place to call home.
📰⁉️The motorsport society is such an active society and as good as that is, it can mean that things may get missed or forgotten. That is why the fortnightly newsletter is a vital part to ensuring that everyone knows what is going on. I would love to add an interactive element to the newsletter. For example a questionnaire or a feedback form. These would allow for the rest of the committee to see what could be improved or what is great the way it is. This allows for constant reflection which is key to a smooth running society.
❤️🩹 I think it is pretty obvious that as a nursing student I believe that health and wellbeing should be at the heart of everything you do. Therefore, I wish to carry on with the amazing work that Ellie has done and ensure that the welfare sessions continue and possibly increase in frequency. Adding to that, I would love to find ways to make the welfare sessions more appealing and interactive. For example an F1 cookie decorating session, a fun quiz or even just a chill cafe trip.
⏳ As your secretary I would use the organisation skills I have gained from my placements to ensure that the society’s meetings are recorded in a practical way that works for everybody to allow for the other committee members to reflect on what was discussed in order to make plans. Adding to this, I would also complete administrative tasks to the best of my abilities to make sure everything is as convenient as it can be.
📧 I have to communicate with people constantly on placement, It is because of this that I have developed superb communication skills which I would channel into ensuring that emails, dm’s and any other means of communication run smoothly and without hassle. On the topic of organising things, I am passionate about organising more guest talks. I believe they are a great way to gain more insight into certain topics as well as being interesting to attend.
🏎️To put it simply, I would be honoured to be your new secretary. I would love not only the honour of continuing the previous secretary’s hard work but also adding to the society in my own ways, while considering everyone else’s opinions. This society has truly made my university experience 1000 times better than what I thought it would be, and I thought it would be rubbish as nursing students don’t get the typical experience, but motorsport found a way to help me have that. So thank you to you all, I hope to repay you by being a part of the committee.

I have previously worked in a busy café where I developed great organisational skills through working cohesively alongside a group of people to get many orders out at the same time as well as providing good customer service. This experience will help me excel in the role of secretary as I aim to ensure the society continues to run smoothly.
If elected I would aim to build on the success of this year’s welfare activities, by organising consistent sessions throughout the year, creating a safe and open space for people to come and wind down. Also, I hope to inspire people to get involved in and aspire to work in sports through organising the guest panels to contain people from many different areas of sport. This is why you should vote for me for secretary.

Despite not being on committee last year, I took the initiative to organise a spectator car for BUKC and Tour de Yorkshire events throughout the year, an idea which has become more official this year with the offering of ticketed spectator cars. I hope to continue adding new ideas to the society next year that ensure the best possible experiences for all members.
My goals for next year as Secretary:
- ensure an inviting and encouraging environment for all existing and new members of the society
- ensure consistent channels of communication at all levels (e.g. with LUU, within the committee, and perhaps most importantly, with you, the society members)
- ensure a high level of organisation within a society that offers so much
I look forward to being back in Leeds next year, returning properly to the society that changed my university experience for the better, and meeting all of the new members!

Having previously been on another committee, I have helpful experience in running a society and organising activities, transport and communication of that information. This has given me skills which would be great in the VP or Secretary roles. I have also attended most events put on by the society in my two years so have a good understanding of what it takes and what needs to be run. I would like to continue welfare sessions, so people have a safe space to come talk and just chill. I would also be keen to introduce a rookie title for the TDY or a most improved, to reward people’s commitment and dedication!
Motorsport is a big love of mine, I stood in the rain in Melbourne this year for 7 hours which is pretty decent dedication! I am also very much looking forward to not watching races at 1am and being in the Library with everyone. I would be so excited to be a part of the committee, to provide a welcoming environment and continue to get more women involved in all society events. The warm and welcoming environment was incredible when I joined and I would love to continue that!

My Motorsport journey began during my International Foundation Year, when I first joined the society and it’s been an incredible ride. I’ve been actively involved in all aspects of our society life, regularly attending socials, Formula 1 watchalongs and karting events. I’ve had the chance to meet many of you, work alongside the committee, and gain a deep understanding of how the society operates.
I believe I’d be a great fit for the Secretary role. I have experience as a Course Representative, where I’ve developed strong skills in communication, attending meetings, working with documents, and making sure everyone’s voice is heard, all of which are directly relevant to the responsibilities of Secretary.
Whether it’s taking minutes, managing the communication channels, creating the newsletter, or just helping keep things running smoothly behind the scenes. I’m confident I can do it all with 100% energy and commitment. I’m also excited about organising guest talks and supporting member welfare, as I truly care about making this society a fun, inclusive, and welcoming place for everyone.
As many of you already know, I love karting, from racing in the BUKC to competing in our internal TDY races. Outside of the track, I’m always up for a good chat, sharing experiences, and enjoying the amazing atmosphere we build together.
If you’re looking for a friendly, open-minded, and enthusiastic person to help manage the society next year, I’d love to have your vote!

Feedback from members can be informative to aid the management of events and the way that socials are run. I believe that by including an optional feedback form within the weekly newsletter that the committee can improve events, whether this be by making them more accessible or introducing new exciting socials suggested by members.
Welfare at university is becoming an increasingly important topic and the welfare sessions put on by the society are an excellent addition. The continuation of these is important to me and increasing turnout through unique activities and communication will help to improve the safe space that they provide to members. To help achieve this, I believe that a dedicated Welfare Officer role would be beneficial to ensuring that welfare is a top priority within the society.
Thank you so much for reading and I hope that the society can continue to be as fun and inclusive as it has been this year. It would be an honour to have your support to be Secretary; VOTE FINN:))).
