I'd like to be the Vice Captain of Leeds Motorsport to continue the previous efforts of equal-opportunities in the BUKC. I believe building on the foundations set last year will allow a good number of well performing teams in both Inters and Mains, (The number obviously depends on funding recieved). I also think it would be beneficial to the future development of the society to aim for multiple Mains teams, this will allow more people the chance to experience this, and develop their skills accordingly.

I’m applying for the role of Vice Captain as I would like to make a positive impact on the society and continue the amazing work that has been done in the two years I’ve been a part of it. I believe I’d be well suited to the role, as I would work hard and put everything into making the society as enjoyable for everyone involved as it has been for me.

After an amazing first year part of the society and meeting some great people (who also spend their entire savings on karting), I would love to give back my time and effort into keeping this society running.

My first year in the BUKC has allowed me to understand how these events are organised and ran, I have attended every event this year, whether I've been driving or spectating, to not only become familiar with the basic running of each race but to also support the team in any way and get to know as many people as possible.

As a vice captain, I would continue the work put in this year to prioritise developing drivers, providing an equal opportunity for everyone to take part in events. I would maintain a balanced competitive and relaxed atmosphere where everyone is able to perform at their best whilst also continuing social traditions such as a Maccies breakfast and carvery.

My main objective if elected would be to support those new to the BUKC next year by giving my personal experience as someone who was relatively new to outdoor karting. I would begin the year by scouting potential new drivers at the GIAG allowing those keen to be involved to get a chance at showing off their skills.

My other objectives include:

✅ Providing clear leadership alongside the captain to work together and ensure a smooth running of each event, team selections and transport would be organised and all involved would be givens details on how each event will operate.

✅ Ensure feedback is listened to and acted on to improve the experience of everyone involved.

✅ Be involved in giving regular briefings before and after each event, this would look at key information, track guides but also a look back at what went well at each event, especially the great drives and overtakes on show.

✅ Develop myself personally, especially my communication and team-working skills which are not only vital to the vice captain position but also for any job role in the future.

Hey everyone, my name is Luca Wigley, and I have been in the society for roughly three years now. I study BA History and I'm currently on a study year abroad in Munich, Germany and I am returning next year for my final year of my degree.

Whilst I have not been able to be fully present this year due to being in Germany, my return to society events such as the BUKC and Tdy at Tockwith has been immense fun, and it has been nice to see so many new faces in the society. In my first and second years at university, the society was a big part of my enjoyment during those years, and in particular, the BUKC was a big part of why the society was so fun. The thrill of being able to compete in two-stroke Karts on the UK's best go-kart tracks is something that I will always cherish. It would be a great joy to come back as the Vice Captain and continue the joy the racing brings to so many members of the society.

If elected as Vice Captain, I will first and foremost aim to keep an atmosphere of support and encouragement high amongst the Leeds drivers. I think helping each other out and trying to have a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere is underrated and, in my opinion, helps drivers feel more confident in themselves as well as encourages more teamwork amongst teams.

I may not be the outright quickest driver on a given day, but my almost 3 years of racing in the BUKC have given me a wealth of knowledge of how each race day plays out, what the karts are like, and significantly, how to experience the most speed and enjoyment possible. With this, I feel well suited to be able to coach and help other drivers, particularly new drivers to the BUKC in feeling more confident with the kart and therefore being able to be quicker each race. Furthermore, I aim to make track walks as precise and helpful as possible to all drivers with an emphasis on braking points, race line, and when to get back on the throttle. From past tips given to me, I find these 3 points particularly useful on track walks and particularly for the Club 100 Karts, which need high revs to be quick in.
