Hi, most of you know who I am already, for those of you that don’t, my name is Anand, I am currently studying Biopharmaceutical Development MSc (Michael Schumacher?). I have been a member of this society for 4 years now, becoming well integrated with many of the members both past and present, and I am running to be the Motorsport Society’s President for the 2025/26 academic year.
Entering my 5th year as a member of the Motorsport Society, I want to be able to give back so many of the great memories I have made. Seeing this society grow from one of the smaller societies at Leeds to win club of the year has been a highlight of my time at university, and I want to further build on this by contributing towards what has made our society so successful: being inclusive, open, and competitive.
I have been in a great position in the past 2 years to be so close to committee that I understand the work put in behind the scenes, and am prepared to make the same sacrifices. Laying down the foundations for the next few years with the massive increase in member numbers we are seeing each year is a priority as with more members comes more demand for different types of events. Increasing engagement from all members in person and online will form a large part of this. To do this I would look at organising more opportunities for members to meet up with committee and each other at relaxed events to create a welcoming environment for all.
Throughout my university life, I have been given the opportunity to work in many different teams, collaborating with my partners and taking control of situations where necessary to focus on the task at hand. This has enabled me to learn skills in teamwork and leadership that I know will help me to excel as part of this committee. Even more recently, PFI gave me an opportunity to showcase these as a team captain, reassuring drivers new to BUKC racing as well as encouraging them to, in the famous words of Ricciardo: ‘lick the stamp and SEND IT’. I believe I would not be given the role again at Clay if I wasn’t doing something right.
As President, I will strive to make this Motorsport Society not just a society, but a community where passion for motorsport brings people together both on and off the track. I am committed to building a thriving society off the back of the success I have been so lucky to be a part of as a member, and aim to make this one of the best years for the society.

Hey everyone! It’s Em here, a second year Economics student, and I would love the opportunity to be the society’s President for the 2025/26 year! For the past two years, I have been a loyal member of the society, and in that time, I have seen the importance of our community on so many individuals, including myself. Because of this, I want to take on a role that would allow me to finally give back to a community that has given me so much!

As President, I would ensure:
- Responsible and reliable leadership,
- Enhanced member engagement: increased growth of inclusivity to ensure all voices within the society are heard,
- Championing a welcoming & safe environment (all with a smiley face!)
- Expanding our horizons: introducing new and exciting opportunities for every member.

My goal is to build on what we’ve already achieved and create an even more successful, inclusive, and exciting year ahead. I want to make sure everyone in the society feels valued, heard, and empowered to contribute in any way they can. To do this, I’m committed to listening to everyone’s ideas and viewpoints on how we can take the society to the next level! This way, our direction will truly reflect what we all want to achieve together. I’m also focused on creating opportunities for everyone, no matter their background or experience with motorsport. I believe in celebrating the variety of people in our community and offering chances for everyone to shine.

Looking back on my time with the society, I feel lucky to have built a close relationship with the current committee. From the side lines, I’ve seen how dedicated they are to their roles, and I’m excited about using their insights and knowledge to guide us forward. I want to take all the great things that’s already been built and use them to make this year even bigger and better!

I also bring some leadership experience with me, having been the President of my Sixth Form’s Charity and Sustainability Committee. That experience taught me the importance of teamwork, taking responsibility, creating meaningful change, and the strength of a supportive community. It helped me develop skills in planning, communication, and leadership—skills I’m ready to use to lead with confidence, honesty, and a real commitment to positive change in our society.

Ultimately, within the role of President, I want to make sure our society stays thriving, exciting, and welcoming for everyone. I’m super passionate about our community here in Leeds, and I am ready to put in the work to ensure that our society continues to grow, have fun, and continues to create great memories for us all!!!
