After an amazing first year part of the society and meeting some great people (who also spend their entire savings on karting), I would love to give back my time and effort into keeping this society running.

Competing in TDY has been one of the highlights of my year, racing against people who love karting as much as I do could not be more enjoyable. As a staple to the Motorsport society, these events must continue into the future which requires a large amount of planning and organisation.

Alongside the Events Coordinator, we would work closely to provide smooth running events throughout the year. This would include ensuring the GIAG’s and Women’s only karting continue and with greater capacity after amazing interest this year. These events are key to providing new members the opportunity to be involved in the society as well as the chance to connect with other universities. My main objective if elected would be outreaching to more spectator events this year after such amazing turnout at the Donnington and Riponian rallies.



What would I bring as Events Manager?

✅ Work closely with the Events Coordinator and the wider committee to keep everyone up to date and informed about the events running throughout the year.

✅ Ensure each event (especially TDY) is as affordable as possible, this would be achieved by working closely with the treasurer and allow most members to be able to get involved.

✅ Rework the TDY calendar to provide a mixture of indoor and outdoor tracks throughout the year rather than all indoor tracks in a row, this could help to increase interest at the less popular tracks. New tracks will also be considered such as Newcastle (Definitely no home bias here) or Teesside.

✅ Ensure feedback is listened to and acted on to improve the experience of everyone involved.

✅ Develop myself personally, especially my communication and team-working skills which are not only vital to the Events Manager position but also for any job role in the future.


(I would also give Arion an extra 20kg weight at each event to have fairer races)

I’m Oliver, a first year Civil Engineering student, and I am running for the position of Events Manager on Committee. As a fresher, I decided at the last minute to attend the give-it a-go at Teamsport Leeds, and I believe that it was the best decision I have made during my time at university. Despite my below average karting ability, I have enjoyed the array of events this year’s committee has worked tirelessly to put on. Having spent the last 5 years volunteering through Scouting, I feel as though I have developed the key skills of communication, team work and organization which are essential to this role. With this said, I have a few ideas I would like to see implemented over the next year, if I am to be elected as Events Manager.

Greater membership involvement over track selection for TDY 25-26 – Whilst developing a calendar for the 25-26 TDY championship, alongside the President, I will endeavour to consult with people on what tracks they want to see on the calendar. This will help committee create a calendar that maximises engagement and enjoyment over the coming years.

Removal of a driver’s two poorest results in TDY rankings – Whilst everyone would like to attend all the TDY events, academic commitments, cost and shear demand for tickets, means that many miss multiple events. Currently, only a driver’s poorest result is removed when the TDY ranking are calculated. This puts drivers who miss multiple TDY events during the year at a points disadvantage. This should allow for a greater number of drivers to race in enough races to have a fair chance at achieving their best result in the championship.

Expansion in the number of Women’s only karting events – The past year has seen a number of successful Women’s Only Events, with GIAG’s and WiM event at Manchester Trafford. These events were well attended and help to promote greater diversity within the society membership. As part of increasing the number of Women’s Only events, I would try to use the Societies links with other Motorsport and racing societies at other Universities to promote inter- university competition. I would also like to introduce a Women’s only outdoor karting event, giving more people the opportunity to Kart outdoors

Increased number of trips to permanent racetracks – The attendance at the Donnington Rally was noticeably higher than at other rallies. The wider range of facilities, availability of seating, and wider range of viewing locations most likely contributed to this. I would like to see further trips to Donnington for the British GT championship, calendar dependent, as well as rallies at Oulton Park and Croft Circuit.

It would be an honour to be selected as Events Manager for the coming year, and to help to deliver a comprehensive calendar of engaging events. However, no matter the result, I will continue to put in poor quality performances at TDY.

Hi everyone! I’m Em, a second year Economics student, excited about the opportunity to run for Events Manager for the 2025/26 year! I’m running for this role because I’m passionate about creating fun, memorable experiences for all our members. As someone who loves bringing people together, I believe I can help make this year’s events for the society bigger and better than ever!

As Events Manager, I would aim to ensure:
- The smooth organisation of regular TDY karting sessions, ensuring as many people as possible have the chance to race and compete in a fun, safe environment,
- More women’s-only events, to invest in the experience and confidence of female drivers within the society,
- The organisation of more motorsport-based trips, such as to races, rallies, or car shows, to offer our members unforgettable experiences both on & off the track.

My goal as Events Manager is clear and straightforward: to organise well-executed events that cater to the diverse interests within our society! Whether you’re passionate about karting, an avid F1 enthusiast, or completely new to the scene, I want to create opportunities for everyone to get involved in, form new connections, and above all, have FUN!
While previous Events Managers have undoubtedly done great work, I would aim to build on their successes by introducing more events that appeal to all interests and skill levels within the society. This includes hosting more women’s-only events to boost the confidence and participation among female drivers, and prioritising more accessible events to ensure that everyone, regardless of their experience, has the chance to get involved and enjoy the thrill of karting in a fun and safe environment!

Hi, I’m Grace, a second-year Physics student, and I’ve been a dedicated member of the Motorsport Society for the past two years. This society has given me some of the most incredible experiences, from spectating various BUKC & TDY rounds, attending different Motorsport events such as the Donnington rally and competing in karting GIAGs. More importantly, it has introduced me to an amazing community of like-minded people who share a passion for motorsport.

I believe this is the best society at the university, offering a fantastic mix of racing, social, and online events. But at its core, this society is built around a love of karting, and as Events Manager, I’m committed to continuing and expanding TdY, ensuring more opportunities for members to get on track, perhaps introducing a few new circuits. I also want to ensure that people who have never karted before feel comfortable enough to give it a go! Of course, I’d still love to organise more in-person gaming socials, F1 watchalongs, or even a cheeky trip to a Grand Prix!

I have a strong background in event planning, having been Head of House in sixth form, where I organised fundraisers, social events, guest speaker sessions, and even virtual activities during COVID. I am extremely organised and a meticulous planner, and would ensure that every event runs smoothly, from booking venues and arranging travel to making sure everyone has a great time.
If elected, I’d work closely with the committee to deliver the fantastic events that have become the staple of our society like TdY, enduros, GIAG sessions, and women’s-only karting, while also exploring new opportunities. Most importantly, I want to hear from you, what events would you love to see next year?
