Hi everyone! For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Harriette, I study Art & Design and I am currently on my placement year doing an interior design internship. I have been part of Street Dance Society since I was a fresher and I was lucky enough to be part of the intermediate team for the 2022 and 2023 comp seasons!

I would absolutely LOVE to be one of your comp reps! Throughout my first two years of uni I have competed at 12 university dance competitions so I believe this experience will be really beneficial for this role. Some of you may already know I was previously a part of Modern Dance Society too but when I was a fresher my friend Rae and I choreographed and taught a an entire street dance routine to 24 dancers most of which had never danced the style before so I had to teach everyone entirely from scratch all in under 3 weeks! It was an immense challenge and we ended up placing second at the competition! For this I had to also book dance studios, organise and lead rehearsals, create music, organise costumes, all of which is probably quite good practice for the role of a competition rep. So, with more time, and a comp rep partner in crime we could help LUU Street do even bigger and better things! I hope that we would get more than 3 weeks to help continue LUU Street’s awesome legacy!

One idea I have for the role is to use my connection to Modern Dance Society who run their own dance competition in February and ask them to let us compete in their street dance category because would wouldn’t want to win some trophies on home turf?! Committee members from Modern would always ask me if street could perform at their competition so it definitely could be a possibility. I have already spoken to a couple of street members, and they agreed that they would have liked to have done this as like a “warm up” before the bigger competitions (Lboro comp and GHGH).

During my placement year I have been training with Bam Bam Boogies Advanced Dance Company and in January a team of us choreographed and performed a dance production called “Hip Hop Panto”, so this experience could aid in collaborating with other committee members when creating visions and choreography for competition routines.

I absolutely love being a part of this society! Whether I get this role or not, I am SO EXCITED to be back dancing with all you talented people and I am so excited to meet some new faces too! Hope to see most of you at the dance show!!!!! 💛💛💛

Hi everyone! I’m Cait and I’m hoping to be your new competition rep for 2024/25🤞. First of all go check out my poster because that sums me up a bit better💛 Since joining the society in first year I have competed in both the Intermediate and Advanced teams, therefore have gained experience from all angles. As your comp rep I promise to continue the LUU Street legacy of wiping the floor with our competition everywhere we go with incredible outfits, concepts and performances. Dancing since age 3, teaching at a dance school and competing in street dance for the last 8 years, I understand the ins and out of competitions, including how stressful this time can be and the importance of a smooth-running comp reason. I am a friendly, confident person who you can rely on to achieve this and would love to make a positive contribution to the committee through pushing for new and innovative ideas. I’ll work alongside other members of the committee to continue to push the boundaries and not be afraid to experiment with styles and concepts (this year we turned a literal orchestra into a first-place winning piece – insane). I aim to bring passion, creativity and collaboration with choreographers to further advance our incredible teams (and any newcomers😁). So far comp seasons on LUU have been insane, making friendships that will last beyond uni, taking part in fun and creative classes/sets and travelling around the country to collect our well-deserved trophies.
