Hello everyone!

I am Ryan, a first-year Mechatronics student and the team-leader behind Marcello. As an avid competitor in RFL 2026, I loved the months of preparation and the spirit of competion that the RFL brings to the society. When I am elected, I will focus on boosting participation, improving organisation and improving the overall experience for every competitor and spectator.

These are the initiatives I will be implementing when elected:

- I will host bi-weekly build sessions at the makerspace:
With RFL 2026, the induction for G68 was held only 1 month before competition day, and many competitors did not have a clue about where to start. Since the society will be hosting them, we could provide guidance on starting points or on any potential problems the competitors may face. This would also give a clear line of communication between participants and committee members.

-Introduction of the antweight battle bot league:
The introduction of 150g battle bots provides a more affordable place for builders to start experimenting with electrical and mechanical systems. One complaint in RFL 2026 was that absolute strangers were grouped together, lacking in communication these groups were empty-handed come competition day. The antweight league would allow for smaller groups to participate and would be more affordable as the parts would be less expensive.

- Overall enhancements to the arena:
There has been much backlash regarding the banning of spinner weapons. I am looking to change that with improvements to the arena. The most likely source of safety issues regarding spinners is the walls of the arena themself. With a few upgrades, I am sure we can meet the safety standards to reintroduce spinners to RFL 2027.
