Dear members of the Vibes dance society,

As a candidate for the position of secretary of Vibes, the Bollywood Dance Society, I bring with me a lifelong passion for dance that runs deep in my veins. Since childhood, dance has been more than just a hobby—it's been my expression of joy. I am a trained Bharatnatyam dancer, and I have performed at several national and international forums. Transitioning to college, particularly as an international student from India studying in the UK, dance has been my anchor, grounding me amidst new experiences and surroundings. In my first year, being an active member of Vibes has not only allowed me to share my love for Bollywood dance but has also fostered a sense of belonging, making me feel closer to home despite the miles that separate me. Having been a part of the LUU Dance Competition winning team has enabled me to have a deep understanding of how Vibes, as a society, functions.

Leading Vibes would not just be a role; it would be an opportunity to nurture a community where passion meets purpose and where every step taken resonates with the rhythm of our shared experiences and dreams. From themed dance nights to open classes every week to collaborative workshops, I am dedicated to creating memorable experiences that will enhance our sense of camaraderie.

Whether it's honing my dance skills, building confidence and self-esteem, or learning time management and organizational skills, I have gained invaluable lessons that extend beyond the dance floor. In addition, my leadership skills, attention to detail, and experience in event planning make me well-prepared to handle the logistical aspects of the role.

Hi, I'm Shifa and I am very thrilled to announce my candidacy for the position of Secretary. As a person who is deeply passionate about dance and committed to fostering a fun dance community, I believe I can contribute effectively in this role.
My Vibes journey started last year, I met a lot of people who shares the same kind of passion towards dance and definitely created a lot of good memories. I was also the part the Inter-comp team and the Showcase team last year.
In my vision, the Secretary plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations and effective communication within the committee. If assigned with this responsibility, I will prioritise to foster clear communication channels, and assist in coordinating events to elevate the dance experiences of all the members.
With your support, I am ready to bring energy, enthusiasm, and a collaborative mindset to VIBES.

A bit about myself,
I'm Aditi. I'm from Bangalore, India and study Environment and Business at uni. As much as I love a busy schedule, my most favourite thing to do is sleep and binge watch tv shows. I would never say no to an almond croissant and a good hot chocolate. Aside from Karate, I rediscovered my passion for dance through Vibes and it helps me feel closer to home. I look forward actively engaging with dance more and learning new dance styles the next three years I’m here.

Why should I be the next Secretary?

- I'm very good at organising and multitasking, helping me navigate through admin work with ease.
- I'm tech savvy and enjoy working the back end part of things. Collaborations, professional emails, and addressing queries are all up my ally having done these previously for the past 2 years. I'm approachable and easy to talk to, helping me fit perfectly into the role.
- Vibes brings me so much happiness and helps Leeds feel like home, and for that reason I will make sure to help out where ever I can to ensure the smooth running of events and open classes.
