Hi everyone,
I'm Shifa and I am very thrilled to announce that I am running for the position of President this year. My experience for competitions and stage performances and also required communication skills makes me an ideal candidate for this position. My Vibes journey started last year, I met a lot of people who shares the same kind of passion towards dance and definitely created a lot of good memories. I was also the part the Inter-comp team and the Showcase team this year.
As President, my primary focus will be to foster a supportive and inclusive environment for every member and will strive to provide enriching opportunities for performances. I will make sure to follow up to the suggestions and ideas given by not only the committee members but also members.
Dance has always been a source of relieving stress for me and I think there's a lot of people who feel the same way as me. I am eager to contribute to the success of the society that will come through by ensuring all members enjoy being part of this wonderful society.
If given a chance I would also love to strengthen the interaction and collaboration with other societies which will definitely prove to be memorable experience for everyone. I will also make sure to organise a lot of socials with fun games for the interaction of members.

From my earliest memories, I've been drawn to the stage, finding solace and joy in the art of performance. With a degree in Indian classical dance of Kathak, my journey with dance has been deeply rooted in tradition and technique. During my school years, I was known as one of those students who was rarely found in the classroom, as I dedicated my time to perfecting routines for various functions and competitions. This dedication paid off as I not only honed my skills as a performer but also gained invaluable experience in choreographing dances, a passion I continue to pursue fervently. Serving as the secretary of the dance society in school further solidified my leadership abilities and provided me with insights into the intricacies of managing a dance community. My diverse experiences have equipped me with the skills, passion, and dedication needed to lead and inspire the members of our Bollywood Dance Society to reach new heights of excellence and camaraderie. As a passionate dancer and a dedicated member, I am deeply committed to fostering an environment where our love for Bollywood dance flourishes, and every member feels valued and empowered to showcase their talent. I believe in the importance of nurturing creativity and providing a platform for members to explore and express themselves through dance. Our society is more than just a dance group; it is a family. I am committed to strengthening our bonds by organizing social events, team-building activities, and workshops that bring us closer together and create lasting friendships. Dear members of the Vibes dance society,

As a candidate for the presidency of Vibes, the Bollywood Dance Society, I bring with me a lifelong passion for dance that runs deep in my veins. Since childhood, dance has been more than just a hobby—it's been my expression of joy. I am a trained Bharatnatyam dancer, and I have performed at several national and international forums. Transitioning to college, particularly as an international student from India studying in the UK, dance has been my anchor, grounding me amidst new experiences and surroundings. In my first year, being an active member of Vibes has not only allowed me to share my love for Bollywood dance but has also fostered a sense of belonging, making me feel closer to home despite the miles that separate me. Having been a part of the LUU Dance Competition winning team has enabled me to have a deep understanding of how Vibes, as a society, functions.

Leading Vibes would not just be a role; it would be an opportunity to nurture a community where passion meets purpose and where every step taken resonates with the rhythm of our shared experiences and dreams. From themed dance nights to open classes every week to collaborative workshops, I am dedicated to creating memorable experiences that will enhance our sense of camaraderie.

Whether it's honing my dance skills, building confidence and self-esteem, or learning time management and organizational skills, I have gained invaluable lessons that extend beyond the dance floor. In addition, my leadership skills, attention to detail, and experience in event planning make me well-prepared to handle the logistical aspects of the role.

Having had the privilege of serving as president last year, I am deeply committed to the growth, success, and inclusivity of our dance community.
Over the past year, I have witnessed firsthand the dedication and talent that each member brings to our society. From beginners to seasoned performers, our diversity is our strength, and I am committed to ensuring that every member feels valued, supported, and empowered to pursue their passion for dance.

If re-elected, my primary goal is to continue fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where all members can thrive. This includes:

1- I will work tirelessly to ensure that our society remains a welcoming space for dancers of all backgrounds, abilities, and dance styles.
2- Whether you're a beginner looking to learn the basics or an experienced dancer striving to perfect your craft, I will advocate for workshops, masterclasses, and other opportunities to enhance our members' skills and knowledge.
3- Dance is meant to be shared, and I am committed to providing ample opportunities for our members to showcase their talent both within our society and to the wider community. From performances at local events to collaborations with other societies, we will continue to shine on stage.
4- Our society is more than just a dance group; it is a family. I will organize social events, team-building activities, and volunteer opportunities to strengthen the bonds between members and foster a sense of belonging.
5- As your president, I pledge to maintain open communication channels with all members, listen to your feedback, and work collaboratively with the executive team to address any concerns or suggestions you may have.
