My name is Morgan (he/they), and I am a current postgraduate student studying Audiences, Engagement, Participation in the School of PCI.

I have a range of experience in events and promotion, volunteering for causes/charities in education, arts, social equality since my teens and being inspired by my undergraduate events management module to co-host grassroots gigs as Poltergeist Promotions since September 2024. This is ultimately what led to my postgraduate degree.

1. I advocate for grassroots events as a vital part of a cultural landscape, especially for the wellbeing of marginalised communities. Members of a community should be given the chance to participate and have a say in what their cultural landscape looks like - I would prioritise being easily reachable to accept feedback from members of the LGBT+ Society and host events we want to see.

2. As an events organiser, I am passionate about variety to appeal to as many members of a community as possible, including a mix of times and days of the week, relaxed vs high-energy activities, and events for chatty socialisation or quiet decompression.

3. I believe that Disability accessibility should span a much larger scope than mainstream events cover, including pain/fatigue management aids and sensory/emotional regulation aids as mandatory (contrary to popular opinion, this does not ruin any vibes but enhances the experience for many attendees).

I love all parts of the event planning process - from brainstorming, planning, advertising, and liaising with collaborators, to enjoying the final event with like-minded attendees. I would be super excited to be elected Events Officer!

I'm Deborah and I have been working as the events officer for a few months now. During this time I have assisted in planning the events schedule for the upcoming semester. I'm really excited with what we have come up with and I hope you will too:)
Outside of that I have experience planning events for other groups I have been part of. Similarly, I enjoy helping out at society events on the day even when I am not on committee. Ever since joining uni I have been to most lgbtsoc events and am looking forward to continue to organise as part of the committee :D
