Hey everyone, I’m running for Science Officer.

I’m am going to be a 2nd year Mechatronics and Robotics student, on the Film Committee, and my Laidlaw Scholarship starts this June. For my summer research, I’m joining a lab to work on a Learning from Demonstration project—basically, learning how to collect data from a Franka Panda robot arm and using AI to teach it tasks.

Here is what I want to bring to the role as Science Officer:

Real Lab Insights: Because I'll be working right alongside university researchers this summer, I can act as a bridge between our committee and the academic department. I want to use that connection to help us bring in amazing guest speakers and researchers for panels.

Science Communication: My background on the film committee means I care a lot about how we tell stories. Medical tech can sound incredibly dense, so I want to use my visual skills to help us create cool content, explainers, or event promos that actually look great and are easy to understand.

Fresh Perspectives: I’m going into the lab this summer to learn these cutting-edge AI and robotics frameworks from scratch. I want to bring that exact energy to our events—shaping discussions around what’s actually happening on the front lines of MedTech right now.

My Laidlaw project means I’ll be deeply embedded in this research environment anyway, and I’d love to use that drive to help shape our events and content!
