I am excited to return as a third year Medical Engineering student and candidate for President of the MedTech Society, bringing both my experience founding the society and the industry insight I have gained over the past year during my placement at Siemens Healthineers, one of the world’s leading MedTech companies.

When I first envisioned the LUU MedTech Society, my goal was to build a collaborative and interdisciplinary community bringing together students from engineering, healthcare, science, business, and technology through a shared interest in innovation within MedTech (as written in the original handbook). Since then, it has been incredibly rewarding to see how much the society has grown and the strong community that has developed around it. I am very proud of what the 2025–2026 committee has achieved, and I am eager to build on this progress by contributing my experience, industry insight, connections, and ideas.

During my placement, I developed a deeper understanding of the MedTech industry at scale, gaining insight into how collaboration, innovation, and accessibility can create meaningful impact within healthcare. I also remained actively involved in supporting student engagement through initiatives such as Women in Engineering and by working closely with work experience students and new interns to help promote opportunities within Medical Engineering.

If elected, I would aim to build on the society’s momentum by strengthening industry links and expanding access to networking and speaker opportunities. I would also look to introduce more hands-on, project-based and interdisciplinary initiatives, including MedTech Mentors, connecting PhD students and researchers with undergraduates to support skills development and academic growth.

In addition, I want to move the society towards a more student-led and co-created model, where members are not just attendees of events, but active contributors in shaping them. This would include student-led podcasts, project groups, and initiative teams, giving members ownership over the content they create and a genuine sense of pride in the society itself, rather than simply participating in it.

I would also work to make the society more accessible and engaging for students from a wider range of academic backgrounds, ensuring that anyone interested in MedTech feels able to get involved.

My vision is and has always been for the MedTech Society to continue evolving into a space that not only connects students to the MedTech industry, but actively empowers them to mould, innovate, and lead within it.

I’m a Final-year MEng Medical Engineering student, passionate about teamwork and creating opportunities for students. Over the last year, I’ve had the privilege of serving as MedTech Society President, helping grow the society into a larger and more active community. Together, we’ve doubled member base, reduced membership costs, organised industry talks and collab events, and connected students to opportunities such as REMAP projects and J&J /DePuy work experience. My vision for next year is to continue growing MedTech Society into an even larger, more connected, and interdisciplinary community. I want to expand industry partnerships and career opportunities for students, organise more hands-on events such as CADathons, workshops, and design challenges, and help students get involved in extracurricular MedTech projects inspired by teams like LURA and Gryphon Racing. Most importantly, I want to continue making the society accessible, engaging, and valuable for students across healthcare, engineering, science, and business.
