This role consists of managing the volunteer coaches for beginner sessions each week along with encouraging as many members of the club as possible to get involved in volunteering, whether for weekly coaching sessions or in club wide events such as BUCS indoors. You will work closely with the beginner squad captains as well as coxes captain to ensure there are enough coaches on each session. The role also has a lot of flexibility and is effectively what you make of it; you have lots of freedom to organise things like coaching mentoring, launch training and coaching seminars. The role allows you to work closely with captains and fellow coaches on important decisions such as crew selection, as well as watch people engage with rowing through a coach’s perspective. It’s a relatively low maintenance role and is ideal for someone thinking about joining the committee for the first time and to a great way to get an alternative insight into the technical side of rowing.
