The role of beginner recreational captains is to recruit new people to the sport who have never rowed before and who want to row for fun, without commitment requirements. Captains should be a regular friendly face at the boat club and socials who are also responsible for the welfare of their squad, making sure that everyone feels supported and knows who they can turn to if they have any issues. Day-to-day jobs include communicating availability deadlines, coordinating outings, and coaching occasionally. Captains will work with a variety of other roles, including coxes captain and volunteer coordinator to ensure smooth running of the squad
