Hi everyone, my name is Palak and I am in my 2nd year of International Business and Marketing. I would love to be a part of WILS and take up the position of Mentor Scheme coordinator. I feel I am suitable for this role as I am a highly motivated and proactive individual, seeking to achieve excellence in all aspects of life. I hold experience being in multiple clubs and societies in the last two years. I got the opportunity to be the President of the International Business Society, Social secretary of RAG and Secretary of Entrepreneurs, efficiently balancing it all with my academics. I am deeply passionate about volunteering and have worked in a few events towards this direction, such as the RAG Fashion Show. During my time being a PASS leader and a course representative, I explored a lot of opportunities for first-year students to help make their time at university much more productive and simple. Along with this, being a student ambassador of the business school, I am well aware of the guidance and support provided by the university, which can be further used to make my role as the Mentor scheme coordinator more resourceful. Hi everyone! I am Prachi, a first-year undergrad doing Economics and Finance with the Leeds University Business School and I would love to serve as the next mentor scheme coordinator for the society! As a member of WILS for the past year, I have actively engaged with the events and provided my feedback and support to the society wherever possible. Having received mentoring myself, I believe it is an indispensable experience where you get to hear about first-hand experiences from the experts within the industry and for anyone wanting to participate, I would love to make their as well as the mentors’ experience worthwhile by collecting feedback, supporting and connecting to new industries in order to introduce more mentors so everyone can find a perfect match in their desired industry! As a growth marketing coordinator at EasyTransfer, I have the relevant interpersonal skills, industry insights and knowledge to organise suitable mixers and socials for both the mentors and the mentees. As an undergraduate student ambassador, I have gained the social skills which not only make me more approachable but also help me to be an efficient point of contact within the society. Additionally, I welcome any feedback that comes my way which I believe not only allows me to improve but also provides a space for the community to grow. Being a member of WILS since first year and having attended the society since the Empower Conference in 2022, I have felt part of this community and have a really strong sense of belonging. This was further by being part of the two sub-committees of WILS, the Empower, and Inclusion, balancing both of these as a strong team player balancing with my studies. The WILS Committee has helped me come out of my shell and I want to give back and help inspire others to achieve their utmost best.
