Hello!! I am Sadhya Chaurasia (she/they) and I am running for the position of Treasurer of WILS. I am currently in my first year of studying economics and would love to join the WILS committee next year. I attended the Empower conference this March and was extremely fascinated by the energy of the WILS committee. I was delighted to see such a diverse set of women who were committed to the aim of women's empowerment through their careers. The Empower conference also allowed me to start networking with like-minded women and boosted my confidence to approach company representatives in the future.

Why me?

- Organised - As the treasurer, the members can count on me to present monthly budgets on time and to make sure that the yearly budget doesn’t exceed. Budget-making is a skill that I learnt as a high school student to maintain my household expenses and it has helped me throughout my first year as an international student. Being able to self-learn Excel processes as a part of my course will help me manage finances a lot better.
- Communication skills - Having worked in school events, I have acquired the knowledge to communicate with higher officials or teachers in a formal manner. I aim to apply this skill while maintaining good relationships with the sponsors and union finance team as a treasurer.
- Approachable - As a first-year student, I have learned how to meet new people and maintain our relationships. I hope to build great friendships with the society members and look forward to working with them while having fun.
- Dedicated - I wish to make myself useful in every area of society. I will collaborate with other committee members to look for sponsors that benefit a variety of students. I will not hesitate to volunteer for work beyond my role and ensure that everything runs smoothly.

Being on the WILS committee will be a great opportunity for myself to gain confidence and learn about working in finance. I hope to become your committee member next year so if you are looking for someone who’s driven, Vote for Sadhya!

Hello, my name is Serene and I am a year 2 BSc Accounting and Finance student. I have been involved in Malaysian and Singaporean Society as the Vice President. I am passionate about WILS’s mission to empower students to reach their potential regardless of any factor and I believe that serving as treasurer would allow me to contribute to this cause in a meaningful way. I have experience managing budgets and financial records through my past co-curricular activities and also my studies ( my degree is self-explanatoru). I also have a strong attention to detail as I’ve been an admin clerk previously. As treasurer, I would prioritize transparency in financial reporting and work closely with other members of the executive board to ensure that our funds are being used effectively and efficiently. I would also seek out opportunities to increase fundraising and sponsorships to further support our mission.I hope that I have convinced you that I am the right person for the job, and I would be honored to serve as your treasurer.

Hello everyone, my name is Lily Giang, and I am thrilled to nominate myself to be the Treasurer for the Women in Leadership Society. I am currently a first-year student studying International Business and Finance.

As a dedicated member of our society since the beginning of my first year, I have seen incredible impact the society have on all members, and I would say that every single moment with WILS was always fantastic and amazing.
This year, I was lucky and honored to be the Treasury and Sales Sub-committee for WILS Empower Conference. In the initial stage, we closely worked with our conference director to seek new sources of funding. The main task of our team is to oversee the overall sale of tickets, keep track of expenditure and organizing the ticket structure. Having a chance to collaborate with all amazing committee members of the conference, we were always committed to increasing the publicity of our event and eventually my experiences on the Conference Day was unforgettable and incredible. Working with numbers and data have always been my thing and being a Finance student also gives me a strong financial understanding.
As a Treasurer, I will ensure that our financial management practices are transparent, accurate as well as in line with our targets and values. I will work closely with committee team to manage budgets, provide regular financial updates to all members, and ensure that our finances are being used effectively.

With my financial management skills and passion for supporting and empowering women, I am excited about the opportunity to be the Treasurer for our society. HI! I’m Imaan and I am currently in my 2nd year studying PPE. I am applying for the role of WILS Treasurer in the next academic year. I discovered WILS at the beginning of my second year and I’ve really enjoyed meeting other like-minded women that support and encourage each other. Going to talks and hearing the experiences of women in leadership throughout the year has made me reflect on my own aspirations and potential self-limiting beliefs. But, it was attending the empowerment conference for International Women’s Day that really confirmed my decision to apply to be in the committee next year. As well as being inspired by the panels and speeches throughout the day, being able to chat to members of the existing committee at the networking event and making friends with strangers in the crowd (from Leeds and other universities) was really uplifting. I now want to be part of the team that delivers that experience to other students.

The concept of a Women in Leadership Society resonates with me because I’m passionate about promoting gender equity and empowering women to take on leadership roles. I was raised by a single mum who balanced a successful career with raising 3 children and I saw first-hand some of the challenges she faced. I am applying for the position of Treasurer because numbers are my thing- I’ve always enjoyed studying maths and currently tutor maths GCSE students as a part time job. I’m diligent, analytical and have natural problem solving skills so I will actually enjoy budgeting and managing our finances. I am super organised and in the detail so will ensure that WILs gets the most from its money and is able to organise events that are valuable for our members.

I was the Finance Director for my Young Enterprise group at school and by carefully managing our finances we made a sizeable profit that helped us to come first in the Greater Manchester area. I also have significant fund raising experience having raised money to finance a trip to Kerala to help build a local school. Both of these experiences gave me invaluable skills I hope to use in this role as Treasurer.

I’m pragmatic, empathetic and able to influence and motivate a range of stakeholders. This will help me build good relationships with our current sponsors and help find and engage new sponsors to support us. Through my work experience and other connections I will also be able to help get a range of speakers from Industry to come and speak at our events. I’m a real team player and look forward to working with the rest of the team and making next year really successful for WILS!
