As I approach my final year at University of Leeds, I would love to be considered for the role of Secretary. I joined the society two years ago due to my love for F1, a year later I became the Secretary and the rest is history. The society has become a huge part of my life at university and I would be honoured to continue the work I achieved this year for new and existing members of the society. I have shown support for the society by attending multiple TdY’s and BUKC rounds as a spectator to make sure that members feel supported and well looked after. I have been to many watch-alongs, socials and rally events hosted by the society and my love for motorsports continues to grow. My year as secretary has made me want to continue the great work that we have achieved this year and I hope I will be able to help make it even better. I believe I have excelled as secretary, I take my role seriously, I am organised, reliable and hard-working which have all been key skills when carrying out my duties. My year as secretary has helped me to understand the role and certainly what I can improve within the role to make the society even better than it already is. One of my aims at the start of last year was to help everyone to the best of my ability and to help the rest of the committee. I have achieved this by introducing a welfare system which has been highly successful and has helped our members have a space to come chat and relax. Here, our members have been able to have a chat if they needed, relax by colouring in, play little games, complete puzzles and listen to music, along with drinks, snacks and sensory toys (my favourite part). This has helped the society to become more inclusive and I would love to continue the great work I started with this system. I would like to make some adjustments to our newsletter, in terms of design and frequency. By making sure the newsletter is sent out on a regular basis, we will be able to keep you lovely lot engaged and up to date with all our events. I have helped to keep the society organised by regularly updating trello, checking on the progress of tasks, updating the calendar and taking meeting minutes which helps the committee greatly. I’m proud that as a member of the committee we have helped to increase women engagement within the society and I would love to continue this great work by continuing to host female led talks, encouraging and representing women in motorsport. I feel fully prepared to continue my work as Leeds Motorsports Secretary and can’t wait to hold on to the magical atmosphere that the committee have already created.

Hi there!
I am really excited to be running for the role of Secretary in the society! I am a totally avid motorsport fan, both in terms of watching different categories and also karting. My involvement in motorsport even stretches to working with various TV channels in MotoGP, one of them being TNT sports, providing them with statistics and insight in the championship, which has allowed me the privilege of attending several races from within the paddock and meeting some key figures in the sport.

From the moment I joined the Motorsport society at Leeds, I fell in love with it, not merely because of the fantastic people that make it up, but also because of how inclusive it feels, and the vast amount of stuff that goes on here! It is no secret that with the departure of some key committee members, we are losing arguably perhaps what has been the DNA of this society for the last couple of years. What they have managed to build this society into is certainly something special, with there being a place for absolutely everyone, whether it be a casual F1 fan, or a hardcore karter, one will always feel like they belong here. Hence, it is events such as TDYs, Women's Only events, F1 watchalongs and even Drive to Survive watchalongs that I threw myself into which made me feel like a part of this fantastic community!

I would love to be your Secretary next year as I want to further my role in this community and make sure that the things that make this society great continue to make it so. I want to give back as much as the society has been giving to me and be an integral part in the running. My role would include handling the administrative tasks of the society and ensuring that everyone is kept well-informed by managing communication pathways such as our social media accounts and the newsletter. Our social media platforms look amazing right now and are excellent at promoting the society, and I intend to keep it this way by working closely with the media manager who will create some awesome graphics! In terms of the newsletter, as well as updating you with all the events that are going on, I would also like to spice it up a bit, with perhaps mini articles about things that are going on in motorsport at that given moment.

I would also try and organise a few guest talks similar to some that we had this year. As I am involved MotoGP, I have quite a few connections with key figures in motorsport that I could potentially bring in for a guest talk! believe these are very important, as they give us really valuable insights of what a job/career is like in motorsport, whether it be as a driver, as a journalist or a team member.

It would also be a priority to ensure that the welfare of all society members is soaring, as there is nothing more important than our society being a safe and happy place for all.

In general my role will involve helping out with different duties in the committee, and trying to be as helpful as possible to fellow committee members with their roles, which I would fulfil to the absolute best of my ability!
