Hello Leeds Motorsport Society Members!

I'm thrilled to step forward as a candidate for the Vice President position. Since joining the society at the beginning of the academic year, I've found a fantastic community and a platform where my passion for all things motorsport has only deepened. Combining my love for the sport with my experience in communication, negotiation, and organisation, I feel well-equipped to contribute positively to our society's leadership. Let me share why I believe I’m the ideal choice for Vice President and why I’d be honoured to have your vote.

Collaborating with Kit Suppliers:

My background in competitive karting and media production has honed my ability to negotiate with a wide array of vendors effectively, making me well-prepared to manage our dealings with kit suppliers like Harlequin and Abruzzi. My primary goal is to secure continuous access to premium-quality gear while maintaining our budgetary constraints. My strategy centres on leveraging effective communication to negotiate the most advantageous deals, ensuring that our society is fully equipped to meet any activity or demand head-on. This approach not only guarantees we're prepared for our various endeavours but also that we do so in a way that’s financially savvy, keeping our society's resources optimised and its members fully supported.

Organizing Awards for the AGM:

Recognizing the achievements of our members is fundamental to the spirit of our society. I am committed to refining and enhancing the awards process, collaborating intimately with the committee to ensure that the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of every member are acknowledged and celebrated. My vision is to elevate our Annual General Meeting (AGM) awards to not only be a ceremony but a memorable experience that honours our shared and individual triumphs in a way that resonates deeply. It's about creating moments that members will look back on with pride, knowing their contributions have been seen, valued, and celebrated. Through this, I will aim to foster a culture of recognition and appreciation that bolsters our community, making our collective journey even more rewarding and significant.

Managing Championship Points:

Precision and fairness are paramount when it comes to tracking championship points, and my adeptness with analytical tools like Excel and Google Sheets positions us to uphold the highest standards of fairness and transparency in our competitions. My dedication to safeguarding the integrity of our standings is unwavering. I promise to meticulously scrutinise and rectify any inconsistencies or issues raised, thereby guaranteeing the equitable treatment and satisfaction of all participants. This commitment not only ensures that our competitions remain above reproach but also reinforces the trust and camaraderie within our community, ensuring a competitive environment that is both rigorous and just

Going Above and Beyond – Supporting the President and More:

My ability to adapt and take initiative positions me as a strong support for our society's day-to-day management, enhancing the President's leadership for seamless operations. The diverse challenges I've encountered, shaped by my experiences living in three different countries over the last five years, have equipped me to handle unexpected situations and unique tasks. I'm eager to leverage these experiences for the betterment of our society, ensuring we not only operate smoothly but also grow and flourish together. I look forward to making a meaningful contribution to our community, ensuring our shared passion for motorsport brings us closer and makes our journey together even more enjoyable.

Hi there!
I am really excited to be running for the role of Vice President in the society! I am a totally avid motorsport fan, both in terms of watching different categories and also karting. My involvement in motorsport even stretches to working with various TV channels in MotoGP, one of them being TNT sports, providing them with statistics and insight in the championship, which has allowed me the privilege of attending several races from within the paddock and meeting some key figures in the sport.

From the moment I joined the Motorsport society at Leeds, I fell in love with it, not merely because of the fantastic people that make it up, but also because of how inclusive it feels, and the vast amount of stuff that goes on here! It is no secret that with the departure of some key committee members, we are losing arguably perhaps what has been the DNA of this society for the last couple of years. What they have managed to build this society into is certainly something special, with there being a place for absolutely everyone, whether it be a casual F1 fan, or a hardcore karter, one will always feel like they belong here. Hence, it is events such as TDYs, Women's Only events, F1 watchalongs and even Drive to Survive watchalongs that I threw myself into which made me feel like a part of this fantastic community!

I would love to be your Vice President next year as I want to further my role in this community and make sure that the things that make this society great continue to make it so. I want to give back as much as the society has been giving to me and be an integral part in the running. It would also be my job to handle the ordering of the society kit, and make sure it looks as banging next year as it does this year (arguably better than some F1 merch, and definitely better value!). I can assure you the society kit is something I am very passionate about so you can feel safe that it will be in good hands! I intend to keep the quality just as good and perhaps introduce some new types of clothing. I also want to ensure that Women's Only events are kept going in full swing, as these have been so important in making me and I am sure many others feel totally comfortable here. The sheer diversity in this society is one of the things that makes us unique, and I want to emphasise the importance of this!

I would also try and organise a few guest talks similar to some that we had this year. As I am involved in MotoGP, I have quite a few connections with key figures in motorsport that I could potentially bring in! I believe these are very important, as they give us really valuable insights of what a job/career is like in motorsport, whether it be as a driver, as a journalist or a team member.

The duty of keeping a tally of all the TDY and TDY enduro points would also fall on me, but I can’t guarantee you that it won’t be manipulated 😉(I’m joking :p)

In general my role will involve helping out with different duties in the committee, and trying to be as helpful as possible to fellow committee members with their roles, which I would fulfil to the absolute best of my ability!

I love all Motorsports, and I know the society inside out which will help me excel in any committee role in the motorsport society, especially because I attend many of the events, from the rallies to the GT events, and all of the F1 socials I am able to.
I am able to take in suggestions from all l members of the society and put forward new ideas as I am confident in my abilities and ideas as well as being able to manage many different expectations and demands of the vice president role.
I believe my ability to socialise and engage with multiple different groups of people will enable me to excel in the vice president role and allow me to grow the society beyond the current roster being very karting oriented and allow people who would be less active in the society otherwise to get involved in the society

Hi, I’m Emily, a second year Economics student, and I would love the opportunity to be the society’s Vice President for the 2024/25 year. This past year in the society has been an exceptional one, allowing me to gain amazing experiences and skills that I believe would enable me to take a step forward and become a great Vice President.

As the Vice President, I would aim to ensure that:
- The society continues to run to a high standard to best benefit its members,
- The president is supported to enable the smooth operation of the society,
- Enhanced member engagement - increased growth of inclusivity to ensure all voices are heard.

As I began my first year at university too afraid to join the society and participate, coming into second year I have been able to see the positive impacts that result from joining a society like ours. By taking on the role of Vice President, I hope to help further our inclusivity by incorporating even more unique personalities whilst providing a safe environment for both newcomers and current students. Through this, more people will be able to make their own mark within our motorsport community.
With the rise of Formula One interest specifically, this is a pivotal point in the future of the society and who may look to join, of which I would look to form initiatives that would further improve the growth of our female community.

By being the Vice President of a committee in Sixth Form, I have experience in this area that I believe will support in how I would perform the role at university. Through this, I gained skills such as becoming a strong team player, looking to assist the next President fill the shoes of our leaving committee by taking on roles in which they may need assistance with.
Additionally, with a key part of the role being to liase with external companies, I would like to take on this role as it will provide me with a valuable opportunity to develop a diverse range of skills that are applicable across various professional settings, whilst looking to increase the opportunities that these companies may provide to the society.

I would be honoured to represent the society in this role for the coming year, hoping to positively impact by mine and the society member’s university experience.
