Hi there!
I am really excited to be running for the role of Media Manager! I am a totally avid motorsport fan, both in terms of watching different categories and also karting. My involvement in motorsport even stretches to working with various TV channels in MotoGP, one of them being TNT sports, providing them with statistics and insight in the championship, which has allowed me the privilege of attending several races from within the paddock and meeting some key figures in the sport.

From the moment I joined the Motorsport society at Leeds, I fell in love with it, not merely because of the fantastic people that make it up, but also because of how inclusive it feels, and the vast amount of stuff that goes on here! It is no secret that with the departure of some key committee members, we are losing arguably perhaps what has been the DNA of this society for the last couple of years. What they have managed to build this society into is certainly something special, with there being a place for absolutely everyone, whether it be a casual F1 fan, or a hardcore karter, one will always feel like they belong here. Hence, it is events such as TDYs, Women's Only events, F1 watchalongs and even Drive to Survive watchalongs that I threw myself into which made me feel like a part of this fantastic community!

I would love to be your Media Manager as I love photography (particularly interested in motorsports photography) and I would love to capture some great shots of everyone. I have a decent camera and I am looking to improve my skills as best as possible. I would attend nearly every event and try and photograph as many people as I can and try not to miss anyone out! Dan has been a saint this year in terms of his photography skills and graphics, I want to try and emulate this as best as I can, and keep the society instagram looking stellar.

And in terms of photographers, anyone would be welcome to take photos at events, and we could work together to come up with the best ones and post them accordingly, team effort!

I promise that if I become your Media Manager next year I will fulfill this role to the absolute best of my abilities, it is something I am really interested in and we need to maintain the society's sleek look at all costs 😊

As with all other committee positions, my role will involve helping out with other things, and trying to be as useful as possible to fellow committee members with their roles. If you have seen my other candidate statements, you will know that I would love to assist in as many ways as possible, and offer all I can.

Hi guys! My name is Vasilisa or as many of you know me as Vas, and I’m going into my third and final year studying Communications and Media. I’ve been part of this society for the past two years and can say I've participated in most events and activities this society offers. I want to nominate myself because I want to give back to the society and help others feel included and gain a new motorsport obsessed family. I personally feel like this society has helped myself and many others come out of their shell and truly make friendships and connections that’ll last forever.
Some things that you may not know about me that would definitely help the society if I were to be elected is that I work for Teamsport which is greatly beneficial when booking events and making it cheaper for everyone. I have also been to many of the northern tracks and would love to introduce a bigger variety of them to everyone, such as Manchester Trafford, Preston, Newcastle and etc.
BUKC is an integral part of this society as it allows us to compete against other universities and increase our skills and teamwork. Although I've not competed in many of the rounds, I do have my BUKC license and have done both the qualies and the final round at Whilton Mill this year as well as the 24-hour race last year. These events have taught me a lot about teamwork both on and off track as well as some much-needed racing skills. Outside of just racing I’ve done some live stream filming and marshalling which has given me although very minimal but still there connections. The whole experience has taught me a lot and is very valuable and helpful in making decisions to further develop the society.
Some of my ideas for next year would be to continue to have a large cohort of teams in the BUKC, such as 2 mains and 3 inters teams if not more. As previously mentioned, continue to hold and expand on our TdY and Enduro TdY and hold them at a bigger variety of locations and more sessions so there are more spaces for eager new members to participate without needing to learn the hard way of the ticket bloodbath, as well as have more spaces for grads to come and visit. On top of that it would be great to have more women-only events from earlier on to help them feel more comfortable and not as intimidated when entering our TdY rounds.
I want to continue to give back to this society and ensure the family feeling stays as strong as it has always been and that future years also get to enjoy it and strengthen it with their arrival. This society has grown a lot in the past years, and I want to help it to continue on this trajectory in the years to come which in turn would help our members develop and create the best environment for them to thrive in!

I'm excited to present my candidacy for the new role of Media Manager. My time at university, studying film, photography, and media, coupled with my passion for motorsport, has prepared me to take on this role with enthusiasm and dedication. My journey in media production began long before university, having excelled in related subjects at GCSE and A-Levels. Now, after four years of honing my skills at university level and immersing myself in practical content creation on a daily basis, I am eager to leverage my expertise for the benefit of our society.

Creating Captivating Graphics and Content:

In today's digital age, compelling graphics and content are the heartbeat of any organization's online presence. My extensive experience in media production and proficiency with tools such as Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, and Lightroom equip me to create visually appealing and impactful materials. Whether it's for Whatsapp announcements, Instagram posts, or promotional leaflets and posters, I have the skills to produce content that not only catches the eye but also embodies the spirit and dynamism of our society.

Energizing Our Society's TikTok:

TikTok offers an unparalleled platform for engaging with a wider audience and showcasing the society through short form content. I plan to harness this platform's potential by producing creative and engaging content that highlights our society's activities, achievements, and any other meaningful events/happenings. My experience in creating short films and navigating the intricacies of social media platforms that comes from internships within the industry ensures that our TikTok presence will be vibrant, entertaining, and informative, drawing in both current and prospective members.

Optional Roles - Bringing Events to Life:

Photography and videography are not just about capturing moments; they're about telling a story. As an optional extension of my role, I am keen to photograph our events, ensuring that every race, meet-up, and gathering is documented in a way that brings our community's stories to life. Furthermore, the creation of an end-of-year AGM video will be an opportunity to showcase the year's highlights, celebrating our society's achievements and creating a lasting memory for all members. My background in producing both fiction and documentary films means I am well-equipped to handle these tasks, delivering content that is both aesthetically pleasing and emotionally resonant.
