Hi guys! My name is Vasilisa or as many of you know me as Vas, and I’m going into my third and final year studying Communications and Media. I’ve been part of this society for the past two years and can say I've participated in most events and activities this society offers. I want to nominate myself because I want to give back to the society and help others feel included and gain a new motorsport obsessed family. I personally feel like this society has helped myself and many others come out of their shell and truly make friendships and connections that’ll last forever.
Some things that you may not know about me that would definitely help the society if I were to be elected is that I work for Teamsport which is greatly beneficial when booking events and making it cheaper for everyone. I have also been to many of the northern tracks and would love to introduce a bigger variety of them to everyone, such as Manchester Trafford, Preston, Newcastle and etc.
BUKC is an integral part of this society as it allows us to compete against other universities and increase our skills and teamwork. Although I've not competed in many of the rounds, I do have my BUKC license and have done both the qualies and the final round at Whilton Mill this year as well as the 24-hour race last year. These events have taught me a lot about teamwork both on and off track as well as some much-needed racing skills. Outside of just racing I’ve done some live stream filming and marshalling which has given me although very minimal but still there connections. The whole experience has taught me a lot and is very valuable and helpful in making decisions to further develop the society.
Some of my ideas for next year would be to continue to have a large cohort of teams in the BUKC, such as 2 mains and 3 inters teams if not more. As previously mentioned, continue to hold and expand on our TdY and Enduro TdY and hold them at a bigger variety of locations and more sessions so there are more spaces for eager new members to participate without needing to learn the hard way of the ticket bloodbath, as well as have more spaces for grads to come and visit. On top of that it would be great to have more women-only events from earlier on to help them feel more comfortable and not as intimidated when entering our TdY rounds.
I want to continue to give back to this society and ensure the family feeling stays as strong as it has always been and that future years also get to enjoy it and strengthen it with their arrival. This society has grown a lot in the past years, and I want to help it to continue on this trajectory in the years to come which in turn would help our members develop and create the best environment for them to thrive in!

Hi everyone :) I’m super happy to be running for my second year on committee as your Events Manager next year!

This year has been excellent at developing my leadership and events planning skills. As Events Coordinator, I’ve helped organise and run all our events across both semesters. Working alongside Joe, we’ve collaborated to have a really busy year! Continuing our prestigious TdY & TdY Enduro leagues, visiting favourite and new locations, and even going to an electric track for the first time… *ahem* regardless of a small power cut ⚡ Next year, I’m looking forward to planning more of our events with the aid of our Events Coordinator!

Our GIAGs have been a great success and I hope going into next year we can continue our great relationship with TeamSport Leeds to support new drivers in gaining experience in the sport for the lowest possible price. These events act as an introduction to the society for many new members and can be the first stepping stone to TdY, next year I hope to reach lots of new people with it! 🏁

Our Women’s Only Events are something I’m super passionate about. The society helped me in my first year find other women interested in the sport and it’s something I am keen on continuing for all women, beginner and experienced. Next year I hope to continue hosting these events, especially involving as many Universities in our collaborative Parkwood Women’s Only following its success for two years running, and help more women make their way up to BUKC with the society.

This year we’ve also been to new spectator events, including the Riponian & Donington Rallies, and I’m looking forward to finding new events across the Midlands and the North for our members to enjoy! Just maybeee fewer events where James’ car gets stuck in mud and it takes half the society to push it out 🚗💨

Across all of our events, I will work with our President and Treasurer to ensure we keep prices as low as possible. Karting is undeniably a very expensive sport, and through subsidy, I aim to ensure anyone who wants to try or get into the sport has the opportunity to do so with the society. 🏎️

Through running our TdY & e-TdY events, organising the guest talk, our Tenpin social and the Mario Kart tournament, I also aspire to collaborate with other committee members and societies to bring you guys new and exciting events throughout next year! I’d love to hear our members’ suggestions for new events and provide an annual calendar that suits everyone’s interests :)!

Hi everyone, I’m George and I’m a third year Maths and Computer Science Student on a year in industry going into my final year at uni. I’ve been a member of the society since my first year and have been an avid karting and F1 fan ever since.
Those who have been in the society for a while will know me as last year’s Events Coordinator along with being the founder of hiding things in people’s cars (sorry to all those affected, including myself).
You may have seen me at Wakefield Endurance, BUKC inters rounds and some socials like Mollie’s birthday (I apologise for what I was wearing).
As Events Manager I will continue the work that this year’s committee have put in to create a welcoming environment and continue expanding our events to make next year the best one yet.

Tour de Yorkshire is a staple of our society and has been the source of many a friendly rivalry.
Working with our President and Treasurer, I will organise as many affordable karting rounds as we can to make for a thrilling championship. For our new members, I will ensure that the learning curve for tracks can be as smooth as possible by going to smaller and less complex tracks like Bradford and Stockton before moving to larger and faster tracks.
TdY Enduro is a great place for members of the society to work together as a team. I would investigate different places where we could possibly hold an extra endurance round while ensuring that we can keep it and other events affordable.
I also would collaborate with other Uni’s to host races like the Northern Enduro we did last year, where we raced against teams from Sheffield, York and Lancaster.

I will ensure that our Give it a Go’s and Women’s Only events continue with greater capacity. This has been an amazing way for us to introduce new members to the excitement of karting and find an amazing community to be a part of. I would also organise another Women’s Only event to give more opportunities for women to get involved in karting.
Our inter-Uni Women’s Only has been a fantastic way for our drivers to network with other women from across the UK. I would love to work with more universities to bring more opportunities to our members.

Having been in the position myself, I will work together with our Events Coordinator to produce the best events possible. I will also support them in transitioning into their role and utilising their strengths.
I would work with them to organise the best timings for events along with race groups to ensure that everyone has a fab time at every event.

The diverse range of Motorsport categories is something that I would love to explore. Our trips to watch rallies and British GT have led to some amazing days out getting up close to all the action. I want to organise more trips like this but looking at different classes of motor racing that members may not have seen before like with the Speed Show trip this year.
However, for any event that may fall outside of term time such as Goodwood, or that may not fit into our calendar of events, I will be happy to communicate with anyone interested to organise smaller trips to them.

This society has been the highlight of my time at Uni and has given so many experiences and friendships that I would otherwise never have come across. I would love the opportunity be on next year’s committee and give back to the society that I’ve been a part of since week one and provide amazing karting events for all of you and our new members in September.

Hi, I'm Thomas, though better known by some members of the society, mainly Anand, as Band(it). I joined the society almost immediately in my first year and found such a welcoming place where I've made fantastic friends.

I had never gone karting before attending the Give It a Go, but I quickly fell in love. I earned my BUKC license and even competed in my first race earlier this year. I would be thrilled to have the opportunity to give back to the society by serving as your events manager.

As the events manager, my primary focus would be offering a diverse range of tracks for the society to attend, including old favourites and new and different tracks. This would enable members to gain experience with a variety of karts and tracks, even if they hadn't tried karting before joining the society, and put them in a better position to compete in the BUKC if they choose to do so.
I want to build on the society's success this year with attending events other than karting, such as the Riponian Rally and The Speed Show. These are unique opportunities that society has helped to make more accessible to people, and I would continue to search for similar events to attend in the future.
In addition, I will collaborate with the treasurer and other committee members to keep the costs of karting and other racing events, such as rallies, as low as possible, making these events accessible to everyone.

Having attended almost every event for the motorsport society this year, I have hands on experience with the demands of running a society, and the requirements of the events run by the motorsport society enable me to show my leadership ability and showcase how I am able to take control of certain situations to get things done.
My ability to communicate with almost all the different preferences of people in the society enable me to open up different opportunities to all the different desires of all members of the motorsport society such as GT events, to rallying, Drag racing and potentially even single seater events which will be of interest to many past, present and future members of the society
