Hello LUUWRUFC! I'm Flo, I am currently your Vice Club Captain and I am running to be the Treasurer for the 2025/26 season!

Having been involved in LUUWRUFC for 2 years now, I can say it has truly made my time in Leeds, and I would love to keep giving back to this incredible club. With the Women’s Rugby World Cup being held in England this summer, there is potential for our biggest intake of members yet. As a committee, we need to hit the ground running and ensure we encourage as many people as possible to give rugby a go! I am keen to grow the development section of the club even further. Our members are what makes this club so special, so it's vital to create a welcoming and supportive environment that encourages people to stay involved and get the most out of their experience throughout the whole year. Retaining members is just as important as recruiting them!

​​My maths degree has strengthened my confidence in handling data and completing financial tasks, which I believe are key to succeeding in this role. Having been on Exec this year, I have a strong understanding of the club’s finances and how we operate. I am committed to keeping LUUWRUFC one of the most affordable sports clubs on campus through flexible membership options, like term-by-term payments. Transparency in decision-making is vital, and I want to ensure that financial decisions are clearly communicated between the committee and the club. Additionally, I will continue advocating for greater financial support from the union and pushing for increased transparency in how funding is allocated between clubs. This will help to ensure that women’s sports receive the recognition and resources they deserve. Making sure all teams in the club have equal opportunities is something I am passionate about. This includes budgeting to ensure we have money for devs away games and advocating for fair access to pitch space.

This year we have made lots of positive changes within the club that I'm proud of. However, there are still a few things that need improvement and continued focus. Communication has increased this year, but this still needs to be high priority going into next season. As a club, I believe we have a good foundation however, I think it's essential to keep feedback open so everyone has the support they need from the club. All players deserve to understand decisions and feel comfortable to question anything that doesn't make sense. We all need to hold ourselves accountable and call out unacceptable behaviour instantly, ensuring that every member feels respected and valued. We have a duty of care for each other which will create a positive, friendly, and welcoming environment where everyone can thrive, both on and off the pitch.

Within the committee, I would like to implement monthly meetings for the full committee, while ensuring individuals know they can request to meet with exec outside of these meetings. It’s important committee members feel empowered to voice any changes they would like to implement and support them in doing this. Additionally, I want to sit down with the coaching team, and make sure we are all on the same page before the season commences. This ensures we know what we expect from each other throughout the season, and how to progress training further. By establishing strong communication from the outset, we can continue to create a cohesive approach to the running of the club. I would also love to strengthen our relationship with the union and work closely with them on key events like Varsity, making sure we’re heard and represented every step of the way, giving us the platform we deserve.

I want to continue giving back by ensuring financial stability, inclusivity, and continued growth within the club. I am eager to work alongside the committee, coaches, and all members to make the 2025/26 season our best yet, one where everyone feels valued, supported, and proud to be part of LUUWRUFC.
