Being VCC requires a lot of organisation, you have to be more organised with this than your degree. For most correspondence, you are the main contact between the club and outside parties. The club email account is under your control and you will receive several emails a day in the inbox. It is your job to make sure that you either deal with them, or communicate them to the relevant person on committee. You need to support other committee members in achieving their roles, by liaising with the union and other external bodies, and by keeping an eye on our constitution and the unionās rules and guidelines to make sure everything is running smoothly.
The main duties include: Booking transport at least 7 days in advance, booking and paying referees, and GIAG sessions. Basically, you need to know the dates and times for everything, keeping on top of upcoming fixture plans and coordinating with the relevant pitch captain. Often plans for match days change last minute, so you need to be on it with sharing the new and correct information. At committee meetings the minutes are recorded by you, typed up and sent out to absent committee members. It is also your responsibility to order the committee/coaching stash. Finally, it is up to you to organise and present the End of Season dinner!
Fresherās week is the busiest week and requires the whole committee to be organised ready to recruit maximum numbers of members, and you are responsible for making sure we have a table at fresherās fair, international fresherās fair and refreshers. There are also a number of events that Leeds Sport or the Union will ask you to be involved in, and it is your job to work with the Club Captain to get involved with these such as Leeds Sports Awards, Colours Awards, and the Rileyās.
You are also part of the top 3 otherwise known as the exec, this means being involved in most decisions about the club, being a signatory on the club accounts, and being one of the first points of contact between the union and the club. Being a member of exec is definitely the most demanding part of the role, and what you end up doing can be varied- but it is also the most rewarding! It is important to be present at training and all major events as you are required to step up if anything happens.
