SOCIAL SEC MANIFESTO BY RANI

Once upon a time,  a scared silly fresh takes the first step and enters the holy site of REVOLUTION ELECTRIC PRESS. “FRESHERS GET ON THE FLOOR” they scream, “SPILLAGE IS LICKAGE” they shout, “CUS OUR SHIPS A TANKER AND UR A wee WANKER” they sing. And from that moment, that scared silly fresh knew what she wanted, what she dreamed to be, what she longed for. THE ROLE OF SOCIAL SEC.
Why should she be social sec?
1.        SOCIALS
·      Socials is where I thrive,  so I am #pumped to make it fun and exciting for my comrades to thrive too.
·      Make sure everyone is safe and comfortable, we want socials to be accessible to all, create an environment where if someone is not okay with something they will let us know and open to all input/suggestions to make it a better place.
·      Joint Socials: I aim to reintroduce joint socials to luuwrufc, it’s a good way to grow the club and mix things up here and there.
·      Work with pubs and clubs: I will make sure we keep and grow our relations with HPP, revs and more. Also encourage more people to attend pub club as its been a great way to get to know others in the club.
·      RSVP: yes a good social sec loves an rspv list, I will keep up with that and adjust pre-planned socials to accommodate
·      HOW??: I aim to plan all socials in advance, themes and activities sorted, when our out of revs socials are and where, so when the week comes we are good to go and can adjust if needed. Be prepared for my devious SOCIAL SPREADSHEET.
2.        TOUR
·      I aim to have tour planned early in the year to get the best prices and deals. As an international student, I have to get a visa for literally everything these days so you best believe tour will be locked and loaded early to ensure my legal entry into Europe or whatever.
·      We want many luuwrufc comrades to come to tour, so making it as accessible as possible will be top priority, having it planned early will help with prices and build excitement therefore even more comrades will come. Be prepared for my sexy TOUR SPREADSHEET.
3.        FRESHERS
·      What is a social without freshers to torment. That is why freshers week will be pivotal, working with media sec to spread the luuwrufc agenda.
·      Ensure all freshers are integrated well into the club,  so we are all one big happy luuwrufc family.
·      Social x Media: I aim to work closely with media sec to promote luuwrufc and its socials.

Lastly, a poem:
Ladies, lasses, legends all,
I'm here to answer rugby’s call.

Not with tackles, rucks, or tries

But socials that will mesmerise;)
From wild themes to dancing shoes,

I’ll bring the vibes, the laughs, the booze.

With calendars full and spirits high,

We’ll make the socials super-fly.
Reliable, fun, with a touch of flair,

I’m your rugby diva, no time to spare.

Social sec manifesto - Ella

Hi i’m Ella and i’m running for the role of social sec. Wednesdays are by far my favourite day of uni because of none other than the SOCIALS. There is no better way to top off match day than a fun filled social with all of luuwrufc. My aim as social sec is to continue to make this the highlight of our week and to bring in fresh ideas.
Speaking of fresh, I can’t wait to show the new freshers next year the incredible energy of the luuwrufc socials. I want socials to be not only a fun and crazy evening but also an inclusive environment where everyone feels safe and happy.
I’m excited to work with the sponsorship secs to organise longer events like the 3 peaks hike. I aim to do this in the first semester to give the new freshers a chance to settle into luuwrufc and feel comfortable with everyone early on.
I also want to maintain a variety of socials, incorporating pub crawls, house socials, sober social activities, and joint socials.
I know i’ll have to be organised for this role and it’s not all fun and games. Don’t be fooled by all the late fresher marker pens on my forehead this year, when it comes down to it i can lock in and get things done. I’ve got lots of experience with organising things, i was a girl guides leader in sixth form and i organised sessions every other friday, i also teacher I will be sitting down in summer to plan the classic socials spreadsheet well ahead of time. As well as the themes and costumes, i also plan to make a list of fun activities for the socials in advance, so that they go as smoothly as possible. I will also keep good communications with the Revs and HPP managers.
The main demonstration of my organisational skills will be TOUR 2026. I want to make next year’s tour a big one. It will be organised early on to get as many people signed up as possible. Start saving now, it won’t be one to miss.
One thing about me is that i am enthusiastic, especially about luuwrufc. I want that to show in the socials and make the new freshers feel the same love for socials.

I want to be social sec because I believe I can bring lots of fun new ideas to luuwrufc! I plan to full send it next year to welcome the new freshers, entertain returning members, and strengthen relationships with other clubs. Watch this space!
