Maddie Robb- Kit Sec

Hi, I'm Maddie Robb and I'm putting myself forward for Kit Sec for the 2025/26 season, because I'd like to give back to the club.

I believe I will be well-suited for this role for several reasons:

The first is that I have a car that has yet to break down and has never crashed, so the kit will be in safe hands.

Secondly, I am also very organised, which is essential for kit sec. Through my maths degree, I have learned to love a spreadsheet, so I will be diligent in keeping track of where the kit is.

Finally, I am very committed to LUUWRUFC. Over the last two seasons I have attended training sessions and games consistently. This means I understand the importance of having the right kit available and a squeaky clean kit to play in. I also have previous experience in maintaining a stocked kit bag from my previous club. As a permanently injured girly I needed to advocate for the right tape and padding. I also believe that it's crucial to have readily available period products, I pushed for this in my previous club and will continue this on from previous kit secs.

Something I would like to introduce to LUUWRUFC is looking at out environmental impact. As a large club we have an impact on the environment and it's our responsibility to reduce this where possible. Some way to reduce our impact is by looking at transport. We have a lot of people driving to training and there is a lot of lift sharing but I would like to reduce the number of drivers by filling up cars. There are also initiatives throughout the year that I think LUUWRUFC could be apart of including Sustainability Week where taking public transport is encouraged. In a plan produced by World Rugby to reduce environmental impact, they encourage kit swapping, whether this be sharing stuff that has been bought and doesn't fit right or old kit people no longer want. I know this has been discussed previously in regards to making rugby more accessible so would like to enact this at the start of the season.

I have experience looking after the kit as throughout varsity training I have housed and transported the training kit making sure it's there early enough for those who would like to use it before training.

I would love to be able to give back to this club as Kit Sec and I hope you'll all consider me for the position.

My name is Bryher and I have been training with LUUWRUFC for almost two seasons now and would like a chance to give back to the club. I first joined rugby in the second semester of first year and myself and others around me noticed how much it improved my mental health; I believe that having a supporting team and training together is so important to make the most out of a uni experience. LUUWRUFC wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for our dedicated committee and Kit sec is an important role as it is vital that we have balls pumped, bibs washed and kit ready for our matches, I believe I will be able to fulfil this role.
Why I would be good for this role:
Logistically, I am suited to this role as I have access to a car with a large boot in Leeds and also have secure parking with my house next year. I am reliable and turn up to Monday and Friday trainings on time every week so will ensure kit is always available for our sessions. LUUWRUFC has become an important part of my uni life so I am more than willing to give up my own time to support the club in any way I can.
What I would bring to committee:
Outside of the role of kit secretary, I believe I will be able to contribute to committee as a whole by encouraging new recruits to come to our GIAG’s throughout the year and then stay on training with us. For people like myself, the GIAG in January was really helpful as I missed the opportunity to join in September but really wanted to play rugby with the uni. The people on the committee then really encouraged me to sign up and come to training and helped me to get to know every one. If I was to join the committee next year I would like the opportunity to help others to get out of their comfort zone and join a new sport.

Social sec manifesto - Ella

Hi i’m Ella and i’m running for the role of social sec. Wednesdays are by far my favourite day of uni because of none other than the SOCIALS. There is no better way to top off match day than a fun filled social with all of luuwrufc. My aim as social sec is to continue to make this the highlight of our week and to bring in fresh ideas.
Speaking of fresh, I can’t wait to show the new freshers next year the incredible energy of the luuwrufc socials. I want socials to be not only a fun and crazy evening but also an inclusive environment where everyone feels safe and happy.
I’m excited to work with the sponsorship secs to organise longer events like the 3 peaks hike. I aim to do this in the first semester to give the new freshers a chance to settle into luuwrufc and feel comfortable with everyone early on.
I also want to maintain a variety of socials, incorporating pub crawls, house socials, sober social activities, and joint socials.
I know i’ll have to be organised for this role and it’s not all fun and games. Don’t be fooled by all the late fresher marker pens on my forehead this year, when it comes down to it i can lock in and get things done. I’ve got lots of experience with organising things, i was a girl guides leader in sixth form and i organised sessions every other friday, i also teacher I will be sitting down in summer to plan the classic socials spreadsheet well ahead of time. As well as the themes and costumes, i also plan to make a list of fun activities for the socials in advance, so that they go as smoothly as possible. I will also keep good communications with the Revs and HPP managers.
The main demonstration of my organisational skills will be TOUR 2026. I want to make next year’s tour a big one. It will be organised early on to get as many people signed up as possible. Start saving now, it won’t be one to miss.
One thing about me is that i am enthusiastic, especially about luuwrufc. I want that to show in the socials and make the new freshers feel the same love for socials.
