I am beyond excited to be throwing my hat into the ring for the position of Vice Captain. I've been part of this incredible society for two years now and I can say with all honesty that it has been the highlight of my university experience 🙌.

As some of you may already know, I've been actively involved in the society, helping out in any way I can. But I'm ready to step up my involvement and do even more for the society that has given me so much 🫶.

I have proudly represented the society in the BUKC and have had some incredibly promising results in both the BUKC and the TdY/YEC, with numerous podium finishes, including 1st place at Parkwood, 2nd place at Three Sisters, and I’m sure the champagne tastes a lot better than it smells on my motorbike gear (thanks, Sam, it’s a good thing I didn’t get pulled over on the way home). All jokes aside, I’m determined to keep improving and make the society proud, aiming for consistent podiums in Inters next year (and maybe even a drive in mains) 🏆.

My role will be to assist the Captain with the running of the BUKC, helping with logistics, team selection and any other tasks that crop up along the way. But, most importantly, my true passion lies in helping others. As Vice Captain, my focus will be on our Inters, I will be your point of contact and do everything I can to make your experience as fun and stress-free as possible. From navigating the track to mastering the technicalities of the kart, I'm here to lend a hand and offer advice wherever you need it. And with my experience as an Inters driver myself, I am confident that I can help others make this transition as smoothly as possible 🤝.


I would really like to give back the value that the Motorsport Society has given to me and help others to realise just how amazing of a society we are. I feel like I have found a second family and I am genuinely grateful to be part of something so special 💚.

This is my last year, my last chance to make a difference and leave my mark on the society. And I promise you, I won't let this opportunity go to waste 🙏.

Hi, I’m James Cook and you may remember me from other committee roles such as the 21/22 Online/Assistant to the Events Manager and that time I won a race at Tockwith. For the people lucky enough not to know me, I am going into my 5th year of Mechanical Engineering and have been a part of the society since my first year. This society has been an incredibly important part of my time at uni. It’s been the main part of my social life since week one and I want to give back by being on committee and providing a great BUKC experience.

I want to take on the Vice Captain role as I’ve been taking part in the BUKC for 3 years now and it’s been a fantastic experience at tracks that aren't Clay Pigeon. It’s taken me to damp fields all over the country, in which I’ve had some incredibly fun racing and made a lot of great memories on and off track. The past captains and vice captains have made it such an enjoyable experience. When I was utterly crap in my first year of BUKC, having the calm and encouraging support of Ed helped me gain confidence and improve my driving. In more recent years Nic, Henry and Jake have been great at creating a more competitive teams in the inters championship that have helped push me into becoming a faster and more consistent driver. BUKC has such a valuable social aspect to it too. I’ve been away on placement this year (I may have mentioned where at once or twice), and catching up with everyone at BUKC events has been an absolute lifeline on that social side of things.

What I will do as your Vice-Captain
• I want to bring inters back to where it was when I started: less results orientated and more focused on developing drivers of all talents. I don’t want new drivers to go away feeling discouraged, but knowing how they can develop as a driver.
• That doesn’t mean I will neglect our more competitive drivers. I want to keep pushing them to develop them towards mains level. From my experience of joining as a complete karting novice to becoming more competitive, I understand the differences in approach needed to improve and as such I will be able to support all our drivers.
• Given my questionable talent, there is very little risk of me doing mains instead of inters. I will be there at every inters round to keep it organised and provide support.
• I will advocate to keep the BUKC affordable and accessible.
• Keep up the great organisation of this year, I’d like to continue the clear communication and make attending events as easy as possible.
• I will NOT complain about Toby Carvery and may even come in, as much as I despise carveries. Even I can tell that’s an electoral red line.

The BUKC has been such a highlight of my time in the society, and I want to make it that way for others. Thank you for taking the time to read this drivel and I hope I can count on your vote to make me your new Vice Captain. And remember, it’s a 2 party system, you have to vote for one of us.
