The Treasurer is a vital role in the Hiking Club, and is simultaneously one of the easiest and one of the hardest. The main responsibilities of the Treasurer are calculating trip costs, processing refunds, and ensuring the club’s piggy bank doesn’t run dry. Other jobs you’ll have to do are drafting an annual budget, setting membership prices, writing funding applications and chasing down leaders who haven’t paid for trips. 

Useful attributes for a prospective treasurer include:

• Familiarity with Excel/Google Sheets
• Good forward planning and estimating skills
• Willingness to hassle pesky leaders
• Possession of a magical crystal ball

There is a lot of work involved, and works very closely with all of the other committee positions, but involved more flexibility than the other positions.
