Most of you may know me from being a regular at Wednesday night socials (I only missed 2 #legend), but I’ve also been at the majority of dev trainings on a Friday (that screams commitment — dev training > pub). Since starting Wednesday nets, my attendance there has been consistent too.

Cricket has been a huge part of my first year at uni, and I’m genuinely grateful for the friends I’ve made and my newfound love for the sport. I’d love to become a more integral part of the club and give something back.

I’m really excited by the opportunity to work with our current sponsors, Splitzy and Add-Victor, while also reaching out to local businesses to build new partnerships. I think there’s a great opportunity to connect with places around campus and in the community, helping them gain exposure while bringing more support into the club.

I love the hands-on nature of this role — from organising kit orders and managing payments to making sure we always have the right equipment ready. My high attendance at training (and hopefully some matches if I figure out how to bowl) means I’d be reliable and always around to keep things running smoothly.

I also have experience designing kit, having created hoodies for my school sports teams and helping redesign our school kit before leaving. I’d love to bring that creativity here and design kit people actually want to wear. Alongside this I work as a football coach where I manage kit and equipment so I’m used to taking responsibility.

We already all look like absolute legends on a Wednesday night — so it’s only right we look just as good everywhere else. I’m talking about representing our club with merch in Terrace, around campus, at training, and maybe even in the occasional lecture.

One of my biggest regrets this semester? Not getting a boonie. So I’d definitely make sure those are available again for anyone who missed out. Did someone say UOLWCC-branded gloving gloves?! (I thought gloving couldn’t get any cooler, but I was so wrong.) I’d also love to bring out more quarter zips, and getting some UOLWCC Canterburys in the mix would be unreal too. I’m always open to new ideas — whether that’s tour towels, sunglasses, new training gear, or anything else people want to see. At the end of the day, it’s our club, so I’d make sure everyone has a say.

After a long year suffering without UOLWCC, I am so back!!

For anyone new, I’m Abbie, Biomedical Science student currently on placement , certified cricket badger, and former First Team Captain. I’m running to be your next Kit & Sponsorship Secretary 😉

Since joining in 2023, UOLWCC has been the heart of my university experience. It is safe to say I wouldn’t live without you lot! I’ve seen the club grow year on year — stronger performances, bigger milestones, and better kit every season. I want to build on that and make sure every single member, whether you are going to be on pitch or cheering from the sidelines, looks and feels the part 😘

This year, I will be swapping the coin toss and team sheets for the wardrobe and big brands 🤩

So how can the whole club benefit?

For players:
 Better access to high-quality training equipment (including specialist wicketkeeping gear), consistently top-tier match balls, and continued upgrades to our kit. I’ll also work to secure sponsorships that give you real benefits — discounts with cricket brands like Kookaburra, All Rounder, SM, and Maiden.

For social members:
 Stronger Wednesday night support (yes, VKs and Trebles included), exclusive netball t-shirts, and more variety through sober socials by partnering with local spots like Coffee on the Crescent, Left Bank, and Fresh2Death.

Looking beyond the usual responsibilities of the role, I also want to collaborate with our next Charity Secretary to do more with the causes we care about, including CoppaFeel and Leeds Women’s Aid — through events, awareness, and a stronger social media presence💚

My years on the pitch, wearing my fair share of questionable kits, and working closely with the 24/25 committee makes me a pretty good choice for the role I’d say👀

Most importantly, I care so deeply about this club and the experience every member has in it and all of this that’s why I know I can deliver as your Kit & Sponsorship Secretary🏏
