Hi everyone,

I’m running for secretary as I am interested in keeping the sociology society organised, connected and running smoothly. I’d like to be a part of helping everyone feel involved within sociology and making the society grow.

I’m someone who is organised, reliable and good at keeping on top of tasks and deadlines, so I’m confident I can make sure nothing gets missed. I know how important clear communication is within a society and I’d like to be a part of making that happen.

In my role as secretary I would improve how information is shared by making sure that there is clear and consistent email communication to all members of the society. These emails will included regular (fortnightly) updates about what has been said in recent committee meetings and the outcomes, upcoming events in the near future and any important notices. There will also be quick reminders the day before events.
I’d also help create a simple calendar of events that’s shared with members, so everything is easy to keep track of.
This will ensure that all members of the society feel connected, included and well informed, knowing what’s happening when and not missing out on any fun events.

As Secretary I want to be someone the rest of the committee and society can rely on. I’d support the President and the rest of the committee as much as possible, helping with the day-to-day admin so events and ideas can run efficiently. On top of this I would also be an approachable member of the committee that all you society members feel you can reach out to and get a quick response from if you have any questions or ideas that you sound like to see implemented in the society.

Overall, I’m someone who is consistent, organised, reliable, and genuinely motivated to do this role well. I’d love the opportunity to contribute more to the society in a practical way.
