Hi there, my name is Alisha Zaveri and I am a first-year dental hygiene and therapy student. I am an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual that is eager to get involved. I’m applying for the position of hygiene and therapy rep. My aim is to bring across the student voice for all hygiene and therapy students and to ensure that they feel comfortable and provide students with an understanding of what this course entails. I understand that this role holds a lot of responsibility and I am committed to being a good representative for this course. I will ensure to be a bridge between lecturers and students. I will ensure that my peers are kept informed of any meetings or correspondence with faculty members, lecturers and the dental school. I will advertise DentSoc events well so they reach the target audience – ensuring that no one misses out on key opportunities. I hope to be able to make a better experience for the students and ensure that we are all heard. I would be honoured to represent you during the coming year and to be given the opportunity to make a positive impact on your university experience.

I am hoping to become your Hygiene and Therapy representative for the following year and create a more inclusive Dental society. After a successful year of being Ball Secretary and apart of BDSA Leeds 2023 Sports day committee. I look to use the skills I developed to represent the H&T cohort and make social events which allow students to feel more involved in the Dental Society. My aims for this year involve; supporting the H&T leavers plan by planning the graduation ball. I am to widen the scope of practice and ambitions for H&T students by having education talks from aesthetic therapists and past students who now work in private and NHS Dentistry. I aim for H&T students to feel more involved in the Dental society and Dental school as a whole. I will do this by voicing the opinions and wishes of the minority of Hygiene and Therapy students. Vote for me to make the H&T students be seen and heard. Vote for me to create a more inclusive society.
