Hey everyone, I’m Zahra- a second year dental surgery student and I would love to be Dentsocs charity rep next year. I am so passionate about charity work and have an immense desire to make a difference.
For me, I don’t see contributing to the local and wider community as a job, rather its something I genuinely enjoy. I would always encourage anyone and everyone to give, regardless of the amount, because in reality when you give to others, you are giving so much more to yourself: the reward, the joy and a purpose. When there’s so much going on in the world, giving back and aiding a change is so fulfilling in many ways: you meet many different and diverse people, it can massively boost your mental and physical health and it reminds you to appreciate what you have.
Charity work is something I’ve always been a part of, and I hope to continue with it. I’ve been both an attender and volunteer at several events. Two of the events I’m most proud of are the annual summer fundraiser that’s done in my city, Bradford, in aid of those countries most in need where we collectively raised over £10,000 in one year! In 2021, I also did the Mam tour with Leeds Isoc, where I personally raised over £300!
I’m grateful to have been a rep for the LMD society this year; it has given me an insight into the runnings of a society and the hard work and dedication that occurs in the background. I’m more than prepared and excited to put all that into the charity rep role at Dentsoc, if elected. I hope to continue with the amazing work done by the past reps such as the bake sales, the homeless feeds, the sponsored sky dives and would love to add to this so we can bring in as many of you guys as possible and most importantly raise massive amounts for charity!

Hello everyone, I'm Nana and I'm thrilled to present myself as a candidate for the position of Charity Representative! With a deep-rooted passion for making a positive impact, I aim to foster a culture of giving, inclusivity, and a collaborative approach within DentSoc.
I have always had a strong desire to give back to my local community. I volunteered with Oxfam for over six months, contributing to various charity initiatives and fundraising initiations. Additionally, I have successfully organized tea and coffee mornings through my church to raise funds for local charities. These experiences have honed my organisational abilities, nurtured my teamwork skills, and developed my communication proficiency through engagement with diverse groups.
With these transferable skills and a genuine commitment to making a positive difference, I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to fulfil the responsibilities of a Charity Representative if elected.
Through my experience and unwavering commitment, I am confident we can achieve remarkable goals through charitable initiatives.
