My name is Fatemeh and I am delighted to apply for British Dental Association (BDA) representative role . I believe the leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills I acquired as head girl in my high school, combined with my international exposure, have helped me to effectively represent our dental school in BDA and to keep you informed of what is going on in the wider dental society.

As the head girl in my high school, I demonstrated leadership skills that are directly transferable to the role of BDA representative. I successfully led a diverse team of students, collaborated with school members, and addressed various challenges within our school community. This experience enhanced my ability to communicate effectively and inspire teamwork. In addition, as the international representative of dental society, I had the opportunity to collaborate with peers from different cultures and backgrounds, and I believe this skill will help me to engage with diverse individuals in BDA.

I look forward to representing our school and your views in the British Dental Association.

Hi, I’m Aliysha, I want to be your junior BDA rep next year! I am excited to contribute my skills to fulfil this role and create the best experiences for our dental school. With my enthusiasm, friendly nature and
strong communication skills, I am confident in my ability to fulfil the requirements of this important position.
Throughout my time in Leeds, I have actively participated in various roles that have honed my skills and allowed me to contribute meaningfully to our community. Having been on the current BDSA sports day committee, as a sponsorship representative, I have a specific insight into the BDA and have already formed key relationships within the dental community, that will prove to be useful in the future, maintaining these fruitful connections, will ensure the smooth execution of events.
Further to this, I have been an Events representative for Bengali society, and a SALIP representative. in both roles I have successfully organized events and fostered strong relationships with different societies. I created a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants through effective liaison and collaboration. Additionally, I gained experience reaching out to companies, securing sponsorships, cultivating lifelong relationships, and building rapport. All these experiences, I will bring to DentSoc to benefit our dental school, making our experience here the best it could be.
Recognizing the significance of a strong university-BDA relationship, I will prioritize regular contact with the BDA, working to strengthen our ties within the BDA. Attending all BDSA meetings in London will allow me to effectively represent Leeds dental school and ensure we maintain a good image. . Having already formed a good relationship with both current BDA representatives I have a good understanding of the role and all its demands.

I’m Hafsa and I would be delighted to be your future junior BDA representative!
With my experience as:
- Deputy organiser for the BDSA Leeds sports day
- Sponsorship officer for Dentsoc
- Past experience with the BDSA council and substituting in the BDA student committee meeting this year
- My involvement with the BDA future leaders training programme
I understand what is required to be the BDA rep and the responsibilities involved and I strongly believe my experiences make me well suited to taking on this role.
I am really passionate about advocating your thoughts effectively and hearing all of your ideas. My experiences with Dentsoc this year including contributing to the organisation of Enigma, Trade Fair and the annual Dental Ball provided me with opportunities to work well with the team alongside contributing to the committee as a whole. I have developed strong relationships within the committee as well as the Dental School in general. Further my specific involvement with the BDA this year has allowed me to form great friendships with many BDA reps from other universities which would provide great opportunity for collaboration. I aim to promote unity across all Dental schools in the UK.
My specific goals as your BDA rep are as follows:

1) To increase communication between BDA & Leeds Dental School- listening and promoting your specific ideas whilst continuing to build on our relationship with the BDA.

2) Applying and involving Leeds Dental School with the Douglas Jackson grant:
- which involves organising a spectacular charity based event
- collaborating with many other universities

3) Involving Leeds dental students with EDSA
This involves organising participation in International events and involving Leeds with:
- mobility projects
- meetings
- lecture competitions

4) Organising BDA guest speakers- to educate us more about the support/ benefits offered to students by the BDA. My aim is to increase awareness of the available support from the BDA whilst making it easily accessible to all Leeds Dental Students.
