I would love the opportunity to carry on the (hard to beat) work of Anna and Tilda this year as social secs. As a regular (maybe too regular) attender of socials, I think I would be great for the role. I have always made it to mischief (even when I’ve not meant to) and always commit to the theme of the social. Also, as a late joiner of the club, I know the importance of making everyone feel included and welcome as members- and encouraging everyone to get involved!

Alongside keeping social traditions such as the Old Man and His Dog, and Cricket Whites Otley Run, I plan to bring new and fresh ideas to the socials such as: Under the sea, Grannies, Idiots Abroad, Any sport but cricket, Pub golf and Bongos Bingo.

I also aim to make socials more inclusive for members of the club that don’t drink or would prefer to take part in sober socials. I aim to organise at least 2 sober socials a term and make more opportunities for the club to meet up outside of Wednesday socials and training. I would also want to work with community and charity sec to organise more daytime events and opportunities to raise money for charities as a club.

With a house in central Hyde Park next year and housemates that are more than happy with me to host pre drinks and socials (and most likely get involved as well) I think I would be perfect for the role.
My strongest talent is procrastinating Uni work, so I know I’ll always find time to organise and plan socials and would be able to get the details of the next social out far in advance to give everyone enough time to plan. I have also quickly befriended lots of the club and know I will be able to work well alongside the other committee members and social sec.

Hi I’m Jess Sparham, I wanted to start by saying thank you to Anna for being such a great Social Sec this past year. The socials this year have been so fun with the amazing themes (princess and the pea especially ;)), but also it’s the community that surrounds the socials where everyone is looked after and made sure they are having a great time. There have been amazing traditions this year that would definitely be sticking around if I’m apart of the team. This includes the ‘Old man and his dog’ to start the year off and events like the Whites Otley Run. Not only will I look to introduce some exciting more themes, but also I want to encourage more sober socials such as laser tag. I think I am made for this role within the society, it is clear that my love for the socials just oozes through the costumes I wear and my attendance to the socials and wider in cricket training. Also, on a social night I am always in a state to support and look after everyone that comes, so I will carry on the inclusivity and care that Anna has shown this year to all at socials. I am a very friendly and so have made lots of amazing friends in cricket and so I am certain I will work well with the other committee member and social sec. Lastly, I just wanted to say that I look forward to be apart of such a great community.

Hi, I'm Lily and I would love to be one of your social secs next year! I am currently in first year studying Bsc Psychology and have loved being part of the cricket society this year emphasised by my regular attendance and commitment to the really fun socials (which i hope to carry on), getting Mischief's star of the week multiple times, winning initiations with Anna and making so many new friends! I am very sociable, outgoing and like to organise events that everyone can join. I will try my best to make sure everyone bonds together, feeling included and valued within and outside of the sport. I will of course plan to keep going to Mischief on Wednesdays. However I know this isn't everyones favourite thing so I would also plan other fun nights out like a secret city social (can be organised with the charity and sponsership comittee members), Bongo's bingo, karaoke or a BBQ in summer which can all be sober events for those who dont drink. Of course, another great tradition to keep would be having a different theme each week (e.g dress as your type). This would be released at the start of each semester so people can plan the best costumes possible with a prize for best dressed. I am confident that if you choose me I will work well with all the other members of committee, you will have a great year and Wednesdays will soon become your favourite day of the week! Thank you!
