Hi, my name is Tania Charles. I'm currently in fourth year of Medicine and I would love to be one of the PALS 4 Co- leads for next year.

Having really enjoyed being part of PALS 2 and 3, both as a participant and in teaching roles, I’ve seen first-hand how valuable it is and it has made a massive difference throughout my time at medical school. I’m really passionate about peer learning and would love the chance to help organise and shape the sessions to support fellow students through what can be a pretty full-on year.

As a co-lead, I hope not only to provide revision sessions on each ICU and the relevant OSCE stations, but also to share useful information on things like planning electives and other key parts of Year 4.

I have developed strong organisational, communication and leadership skills these past four years working with many societies as an active committe member to help run revision sessions, guest speaker events and workshops as well as volunteering to be examiner/patient for Mock OSCE and and MMI interviews. I think those skills would translate well into helping coordinate PALS sessions—making sure they’re useful, well-run, and easy to access for everyone.

Hello, I’m Blessing and I am running to be a PALS4 co-lead! PALS has been a core part of my learning and preparation for exams, especially during my clinical years. This year I have assisted in arranging OSCE crash courses and educational seminars for medical students, which I have found great contentment with and I believe I can contribute much more as a PALS co-lead.

I have experience in mentoring students at medical school which has given me a good understanding of what people would like to see and be supported with in their academics and I have a strong drive to help implement these suggestions during the next academic year!

I plan to organise and engage with the teaching on examinable content and OSCE practice with all the five modules, especially GOSH. Additionally, I plan to organise and set up mock OSCEs to enable students to feel prepared and confident when walking onto the wards and exams. I believe this initiative where one co-lead focuses on leading one ICU will effectively enable students to be feel well supported through the rotation they are in.

I am looking forward to engaging with students and helping them along the way in one of the most challenging years of their medical school journey!

Hi, I’m Yasmin and I’m running for PALS4 co-lead! PALS has been an invaluable resource for me throughout my time at medical school, especially for OSCE preparation! Having been a PALS3 co-lead over the last academic year, I have come to know many of the students in the cohort. I’ve also gained valuable experience in organising and preparing teaching sessions, creating a mock OSCE, and delivering content that students want to see.

I believe that the jump from third year to fourth year (especially for OSCEs) is absolutely massive, and I am passionate about supporting students as they navigate through the more challenging stations and content.

For PALS4, my plan is to ensure that we cover all the necessary content and deliver it in a way that’s relevant to the students' current rotations. With five rotations in fourth year (ACC, CCC, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, and GOSH), I propose that each co-lead take responsibility for a specific rotation. For example, if I were to focus on ACC, I would prepare sessions tailored to that ICU, delivering them during the 6-week rotation and then repeating them for the next group. This would provide consistent support for students throughout each rotation.

My experience as a PALS3 co-lead has been incredibly rewarding, and I would love the opportunity to continue supporting my peers with summative exam and OSCE preparation. My contributions over the past year include personally teaching the history taking stations, as well as the cardiovascular, cranial nerves, and Thoracic & lumbar spine examinations. I also organised the first ever PALS and FirstGen Medics collab to offer an OSCE Crash Course and am currently planning another one for the end of April.

I’m really looking forward to the next academic year and believe that as a co-lead I can help create an interactive and engaging space that will make a positive difference to student learning!

Hello! I’m Sai, and I’m running for the position of PALS 4 co-lead!

In a nutshell, what would I bring to the table?

1. Collaborative teaching sessions for each ICU organised by individual co-leads: core written content / OSCE teaching sessions with LOG soc, LUMPS, Psyched, GP soc and CRASH soc for each ICU
2. Written paper revision series: high yield content for each ICU highlighting key parts of NICE guidelines
3. OSCE teaching series: specifically covering prioritisation stations, prescribing, investigation interpretations and key counselling stations

Why me?

With 4 years of extensive experience in teaching, I’m well equipped to both facilitate and lead sessions with a student centric approach. I have first hand understanding of where there are current gaps in our teaching, in addition to a clear approach to break down content into an easily digestible format. Given the stark differences between 3rd and 4th year OSCE format, I hope to prepare students well for the new format with engaging OSCE sessions.

Having run multiple sessions for PALS2 and PALS3 before, I delivered core content teaching for both the written and OSCE. As a very approachable individual, I’m really looking forward to getting feedback from students throughout the year to deliver what students feel like they need best.

I hope to put into action my passion for medical education through this opportunity and hope to allow students to engage with PALS for the next academic year.
