Hi All,

I am a first year English Literature student who has a proven track record of working with others and delivering results. Throughout my senior school, I have organised social events, working with others from teachers to students with successful results for all. As Young people coordinator for Black History Month I had to coordinate with a plethora of different people from different backgrounds to ensure the events went smoothly. I shall bring the same competence to this role. I hope to ensure that everyone in the society enjoys the various different activities we shall put on through being approachable, organised and passionate.

My name is Katie, and I would love to be a social secretary for English society. I am a first year student of English Literature and Creative Writing. If I were elected, I would like to run a mixture of socials, including some sober and some chatty (with opportunities to meet people and mix). This year, I had the opportunity to meet my best friends through attending English Tea, and would like to create more opportunities like this (and continue the legacy of English Tea of course).

For me, just as it is for many others, reading is an escape and a sanctuary, and I love all things bookish. As English students I think it would do us good to nerd out together once in a while, so I would love to run some more book related socials: book swaps, book club, adaptation movie nights. I am also trying to prepare my CV for the industry year and know that something as simple as a book club to reference can really come in handy!

Since the opening of our family business 4 years ago, I have ran admin and communications with customers. Having this experience has built my communication skills, which I would love to put to use to plan fun socials, such as organising bookings or reaching out to event staff.

I have loved my time as an English student at Leeds so far and I hope for future first years, and all years to continue that amazing experience and feel that English Soc is a welcoming place that suits everyone's needs!
