Why I Would Be Good For The Role:
1. Having taken on the role of Class Representative for several consecutive years in the past at my secondary school’s Student Council, I am more than well-versed in ensuring everyone’s voices are heard. The best way to do that, in my experience, is to know the people you are working with and the people you’ll be speaking for, so I aim to utilise my experience to help me get acquainted with the members and learn what they need and want from the English Society.
2. I’ve been the Social Secretary for the Heelz Dance Society for a year now as well, and having hosted a number of events alongside the other committee members, I now have a better idea of the various venues in Leeds, particularly the ones that are safe, accessible, and accommodating for people of various backgrounds and circumstances.
3. As an International Student who also grew up in an international school, I’ve met people of varying backgrounds and have learned to appreciate the diverse culture that can be found in every community. On a personal level, I understand the necessity of an inclusive and diverse community, and I always look to represent myself and others in any capacity that I can manage.


What I Would Do For EngSoc If Nominated:
ACCESSIBLE AND ACCOMMODATING
-Using my own experience with planning and executing events, I aim to ensure to the best of my ability that every venue for each event is accessible and accommodating for anyone with any mobility disabilities, dietary requirements, necessary alternative communication methods, as well as any other relevant inclusive services.

INCLUSIVE AND DIVERSE
-I aim to encourage more diversity in the society by potentially hosting events that can raise awareness and celebrate the intersectional backgrounds of our members, such as book discussions or even organising guest lectures on various under-represented and minority groups. We all already share a connection in being part of the English Society, and on that basis I would like to provide a safe space for our members, and other non-members, to share their background experiences and stories at these gatherings for our society to become more representative of its own members.
