Heyy LUUWRUFC,
I’d love to put myself forward for Sponsorship Secretary :)
Rugby is built on partnerships — both on and off the pitch — we as a club have proven this year with the incredible growth and development of the community. Winning Varsity this year and the sense of passion and supportiveness that brings us all together is obvious to anyone that encounters LUUWRUFC, showing sponsors, we are a club they NEED to be involved in. We’ve already proven what this club can do — now it’s about making sure we have the backing to go even further.

My aim would be to secure meaningful, long-term partnerships that not only support the club financially but also bring real value to everyone involved- we are that value. We’re not just asking for sponsorship — we’re offering a community, visibility, and a club that people genuinely want to be associated with, I’m hoping I can use this next year to help provide more opportunities for the club.

I want to work to push the promotion and sponsorship of women’s sport and rugby within the university. We deserve more recognition and a larger reward for our efforts, to receive privileges on par with the men’s teams -more media coverage, promoting sponsorship gaining better support and overall greater promotion from the uni. I believe success could easily come from building stronger relationships with other prominent societies such as tennis hockey, women’s football etc to propose more joint socials and large scale charity events to help progress women’s sport over a variety of societies.

I want to arrange more charity events throughout the season with a range of charities of our choosing. Unfortunately, I couldn’t take part in the 3 peaks challenge as I was taking part in a charity event raising money for air ambulance through Leeds fight night. I am keen to continue the 3 peaks challenge and propose another hike/ camping trip as a great way to socialise while promoting and raising money for a great cause.

I will be staying up in Leeds over the summer with the focus of reaching out to local Leeds businesses for sponsorship and work to promote our club in the best light possible while continuing to build on the relationships we already have with current sponsors such as Pickard’s and Perega to set us up in the best possible position before the season begins. A goal of mine for next season which will really benefit the club is to lease with Pickards to increase our sponsorship package with them as it had previously been reduced. Our success over the last year as a club will stand us in good stead for this proposition. I’d make sure what we offer feels genuine and worthwhile, so sponsors want to stay involved with us throughout the year.
I’m also keen to use sponsorship to support the wider experience of the club — I’d like to gain sponsors for funding and work with the kit sec for training kit like splash tops, tees, base layers and fleeces - LUUWRUFC style(for those chilly nights at Weetwood), creating a greater sense of identification and community for the club.

My previous experience in leadership representative roles throughout community rugby and 6th form has built essential skills such as the ability to lease and problem solve, maintain strong communications and represent a team positively - skills which will be essential when promoting a club to potential sponsors by building confidence in professional communication and relationship management.

This club has given me so much this year, helping me live my uni experience to the fullest, socialising playing the sport I fell in love with, and I’d love the chance to give something back by helping it grow even more.

Slutty Mullett here, running for sponsorship sec 2026/27.

I have had a great two years in LUUWRUFC, it has truly shaped my university experience; providing some of my best and some of my most humbling moments. I am one of the many in the club who had never played rugby before joining and yet I’ve always felt welcome and I’m grateful for the club environment that has allowed me to fall in love with the sport and the community it comes with. In my final year I would love the chance to give back to this amazing club in the role of sponsorship sec.

I will strive to increase funding for the club, maintaining a great relationship with Pickard's and Perega, as well as seeking new sponsorship opportunities. I’m aware that with the cost of living in shambles right now, the clubs running costs will inevitably increase in some areas. I will factor this into to future sponsorship deals to try to ensure that unreasonable cost does not fall onto all of you via membership prices. I have experience fundraising over £6,500 for my placement with Project Trust, utilising events, trusts and any possible networking. As a result, I'm confident in corresponding professionally with sponsors and will advocate for the club's needs. I will also use the current climate around the exponential growth of women's sport, women's rugby in particular, to get sponsors to see the benefits of investing in this club. I would ensure any sponsors reflect and align with the clubs values and work closely with the union and media sec to spotlight our club and our achievements.

LUUWRUFC has a great history of raising money for charity, it's something I'm very proud of as a member, and I would love to continue pushing the limits next year. I am keen to give members more choice in what charities we support, adding a personal touch. I would also ensure the charity social remains one of the most entertaining nights of the year, full of challenges that are sure to break fundraising records. I have really enjoyed going on the 3 Peaks Trips and I think they have great value in the club as a relatively low-cost trip that really brings everyone together and raises a huge amount! It's also one of the few social activities we do the doesn't revolve around drinking! I have lots of experience walking/camping etc across the UK and would be confident leading a big group. I’m keen to run the same trip again but have also looked into other similar options to change it up- for example a trip to the Lake district to climb Scafell Pike.

I am also keen to keep up the great community initiatives the club takes part in. In particular I’m eager to get involved in Society's into Schools, and potentially expand it so all club members can get involved rather than just committee, as the scheme provides so many benefits and skills for both the kids and members. I have 7 months experience teaching kids aged 8-17 both academic subjects as well as PE so I understand what’s required to keep them engaged and entertained!

If I were to get the role I would also 100% ensure we get some LUUWRUFC fleeces available for all members. It’s something I feel passionate about having not had one for the last two years and getting fomo from all the other society's fleeces. I have sorted out how to source them for us, just need to come up with a great design :)

Another idea I would like to implement if there is enough interest is a yearly current vs Alumni match. It could be a great social event and a chance to keep the LUUWRUFC community in contact.

Hey LUUWRUFC, I’m Cerys and I’m running for Sponsorship Secretary for 2026/27.

Yes, I’m a first year but don’t let that scare you. It just means you get someone with fresh energy, questionable spending habits, and a very strong motivation to bring more money into the club.

LUUWRUFC has already become one of the best parts of my uni experience. It’s the kind of club you accidentally join for one session and suddenly it’s your whole personality. I’ve genuinely loved being part of such a welcoming, chaotic in the best way, and supportive group, and I want to give back by helping it grow.

I study Environment and Business, so I spend a lot of my time thinking about how to make money and who to get it from, which feels very on brand for this role. I’ve already got potential sponsors in mind that would bring in more money, as well as some solid connections, and I’m confident reaching out, pitching properly, and maintaining those relationships so they don’t just disappear after one deal.

My main goal is simple, bring in as much funding as possible and use it in a way that actually benefits everyone. Because realistically, being a student is expensive, and while we all love the club, we also love having money left for a night out. If I can make things more affordable and improve what we offer, that’s a win for everyone.

I also want to level up fundraising and charity events. I think they should be something people are excited for. I’d make sure everyone has a say in what we support and bring in fun, creative ideas to get more people involved, the kind of events people talk about after for the right reasons.

I’ve had experience with fundraising before, and I’m keen to build on that while also strengthening relationships with our current sponsors, keeping them engaged, appreciated, and actually wanting to stick around.

I also want to push for things people actually care about, better opportunities, more for members, and anything that makes being part of the club even more worth it.

Most importantly, I care about keeping LUUWRUFC the fun, inclusive and slightly unhinged community we all love. I’ll put in the effort behind the scenes to make sure everything runs smoothly while you all enjoy the benefits.

So vote for me, I’ll bring in the money, keep the vibes high, and make sure your bank account suffers slightly less.
