The President of Leeds Think Tank (LTT) is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing the organisation's strategic direction and operational aspects. As the leader in committee meetings, the President plays a crucial role in advancing LTT's mission of conducting empirically driven, non-partisan policy research on both local and national issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary leadership to steer LTT towards its objectives. Develop and articulate the organisation's strategy and ensure alignment with its mission and values.
Meeting Management: Design and manage meeting agendas, fostering productive discussions and decision-making among members. Ensure meetings are conducted efficiently and effectively.
Research Oversight: Oversee the development and execution of high-quality research initiatives across LTT's six policy areas. Guide and support research teams to ensure rigour and relevance in their work.
Website Development: Demand and oversee continuous improvement efforts for the LTT website, ensuring it remains a dynamic platform for disseminating research findings, Op-Eds, and engaging with stakeholders.
Partnership Building: Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with external organisations, including academic institutions, government agencies, and industry stakeholders. Explore collaboration opportunities to enhance LTT's impact and reach.
Member Support and Engagement: Provide mentorship and support to LTT members, fostering their personal and professional development. Ensure a positive and inclusive environment where members can thrive and contribute effectively.
Event Coordination: Oversee the planning and execution of speaker events, panel discussions, and other engagement activities within Leeds University. Ensure events are relevant, engaging, and aligned with the interests of LTT members.
Content Management and Promotion: Ensure the timely publication of research reports, articles, and other content on the LTT website. Develop strategies for effectively marketing LTT's work on social media and other channels to maximize visibility and impact.
Problem Solving: Proactively identify and address any issues or challenges facing LTT, taking prompt action to resolve them. Maintain a proactive approach to problem-solving to ensure the smooth operation of the organization.
Student Development: Prioritise the personal and professional growth of LTT members, providing opportunities for skills development, CV enhancement, and meaningful engagement. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the organisation.
