As LTT's Head of Public Affairs you will play a crucial role in the think tank's operations, being at the forefront of our engagement with the external world. Your responsibilities are wide-ranging, touching on communication, outreach, event coordination, media presence, and the development of funding and partnerships. You will be required to remain as the first point of contact to the society, available to organise meetings, or take calls throughout the day or night as you communicate with partners in the UK or other countries. Maintaining professional communication and remaining well informed is key.

Key Responsibilities:

  • External Communication and Outreach: Develop and implement strategies for effective communication and engagement with external stakeholders, including the media, public institutions, the university, and the general audience. Ensure that our messaging aligns with LTT's goals and values, and highlights the work done.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Maintain and build upon our relationships with sponsors, agencies, other think tanks, and policy groups. Your efforts in this area will be vital in fostering partnerships and collaborations that support our mission. Continually search for new sponsors and relationships for LTT.
  • Speaker and Talent Acquisition: Identify and engage speakers and individuals of interest for our events, panels, and discussions. Bringing in insightful speakers is a key part of LTT, helping to coordinate this with effective communication is vital.
  • Event Coordination: Assist in the planning and execution of LTT events from your position as point of contact. This may include logistical arrangements, coordinating with speakers, and ensuring events align with our strategic/qualitative objectives.
  • Media Presence: Spearhead our efforts to maintain a strong and positive presence across the media and in news. Organising press releases, managing the embargo, contacting and persuading journalists is important to the continued relevance and presence of LTT.
  • First Point of Contact: Serve as the primary contact for the society, handling inquiries and directing them to the appropriate departments or individuals within LTT. Remain well informed as to what the society is doing, and be able to confidently represent the views and directions the society takes. Remain available as often as possible and cater to international timezones. You must be well-spoken, professional, and polite to a high extent.
  • Funding and Partnerships: Actively seek out and secure funding opportunities and partnerships that can support LTT's initiatives and projects. Your ability to secure financial and collaborative support is key to LTT's success.
  • Dissemination of Research: Work closely with the research department to ensure that our publications and research findings are effectively communicated to news organisations, policy groups, and the wider public. Locating the journalists and publications for this is important. Your role is critical in ensuring that the research has the largest impact possible
