Economics Society: Career Secretary (Second Position)
The Economics Society is looking for a Career Secretary to join our committee and support the organization of career-related events and guest speaker engagements. This role is crucial to connecting our members with valuable opportunities in the economics field and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
• Speaker Engagements: Identify, contact, and secure speakers from various sectors such as economics, finance, consultancy, government, and academia for society events.
• Event Planning: Collaborate with the committee to organize and manage career-related events, including panel discussions, workshops, networking events, and company presentations.
• Outreach & Networking: Build and maintain relationships with industry professionals, alumni, and career services to facilitate partnerships and opportunities for students.
• Coordination: Work closely with the President and the first Career Secretary to ensure smooth event logistics, including event promotion, venue booking, and coordination with guest speakers.
• Promoting Opportunities: Keep society members informed about upcoming events, internships, placement opportunities, and graduate schemes relevant to their career paths.
• Feedback & Improvement: Gather feedback from members after events and use it to improve future career-related activities.
Skills & Qualities We’re Looking For:
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proactive and organized, with an eye for detail
• Enthusiasm for economics and interest in career development
• Experience in event planning (preferred but not required)
Time Commitment:
This role will require around 4-6 hours per week, depending on the event schedule.
