A majority of my focus would be to bring in a chance for our members to get hands on insight into industries like publishing, marketing, law and many more through speakers and professionals from respective firms for future prospective careers for those of you who are stuck with the question "what I'd do with my degree". While on the other hand the fun part includes plans for hosting socials at themed venues be it rodeo style or Latin American vibes, I'd work towards stripping away the extortion prices people pay for club night events and making clubbing affordable by Partnering with venues and promoters for special perks.

Hey everyone! I'm Amelie, a first year studying English Literature. I am a confident, creative, and outgoing individual who would love to take on the role of planning some really great events for everyone to enjoy with the two other lovely social secs! I've always loved putting on new things that I think would really benefit people like my 'diverse writers book group': for example we'd jump from looking at the Harlem Renaissance to looking at Hindu nationalism in the next! After realising the group's popularity I took it upon myself to set up links with the local town to put my book club on for the public which was very well received & even got picked up by the papers. I have no fear in getting into contact with whoever I need to so I can make things happen.
If elected as a Social Secretary I'd place a huge emphasis on putting events of all kinds on during freshers week to show engsoc is for everyone. I'd encourage more students who don't study English to join, whether that's to gain new friendships or to fulfil their love for literature alongside their studies, they know they are free to come along!
As an absolutely huge lover for language & linguistics, I'd love to do some joint events with the linguistics society too!
I am eager to put together trips outside the campus like walks around some beautiful scenery to get to know each other better or even some literature oriented ones like see a production at The National Theatre (Perhaps a complicated day for the Trip Secretary though!)
I'd love to plan meet ups at all my favourite places like Rita's Bar, Belgrave, Hyde Park Book Club etc.. and of course Fruity's (I solemnly swear not to stack it down the stairs) and most importantly I'd love to hear everyone else's favourite spots too!
If you'd like someone full of energy and full of ideas to be planning your events then I believe I'd make a brilliant candidate
