Hey everyone! I’m Nathan, a [soon-to-be] second year Economics and Maths student from Manchester. || I have chosen to run for this role, mainly because it is something new. I’m hoping that I will have the opportunity to learn new skills, while meeting new people. Moreover, given the contrast in the qualitative and quantitative nature of my degree, I believe that this role is very much suited to me. || Alongside managing the society’s budget, I would like to encourage the society to take actions in order to become more environmentally-friendly, as well as diverse. I believe that there are certain stereotypes held about the Economics Society, as a result of stereotypes held about people who study Economics. I aim to challenge this, so to encourage more people from a wider variety of backgrounds to join the society. Moreover, I aim to find ways of making socials cheaper without taking away from the enjoyment of them, in order to make the society more accessible. Admittedly, I don’t have any ideas for how to do this currently. But given the opportunity, I would like to try. || If trusted with the responsibility of this role, I assure you that I will do my very best and treat the Treasurer position seriously.

Hi! I'm Robert. I am a first year economics undergraduate here at Leeds and am running for Economics Society Treasurer.

Societies have never been so important. With the recent disruption to higher education as a result of the pandemic, we students have been left to learn online, and consequently have struggled to fully engage with our coursemates. Of course, in recent months and into next year things are improving, more teaching will take place in person and I'm sure the university will do its best to help.

While we should be grateful, we must assume responsibility for social events and student organisation. This is why I am running for the role of Treasurer. I will ensure the society funds exciting, engaging events, large and small, casting the widest possible net for our students.

I will use my experience networking with employers gained from working at the Careers Centre, here at the University, to network with external organisations and agree sponsorships, ensuring society-led events are as fun and engaging as possible.

I have previous managing funds at various market stalls and accounting for my participation in the 2019 World Scout Jamboree.

Hello everyone. My name is Kris Sekhsaria, and I am a first-year international business student running for treasurer of the economics society. I am excited to gain experience and the opportunity to manage the society's funds and perform administrative duties. I am confident in my strategies and communication abilities, and believe they can be put to good use. I believe I have strong judgement when it comes to allocating finances and will make sure to fully negotiate the budget with the department in order to hold events throughout the year.

If I am elected as a treasurer, I intend to accomplish  some major goals: first, start a fundraising initiative to fund events for the society and raise money; second, reserve ample funds for events that attract a large proportion of members; and finally, plan all events ahead of time and provide an overview of the event through social media.

My experience as a second year course representative has developed my understanding and communication skills with other members of the economics society. Within the role I hope to transfer skills I learn through my placement with HSBC in the coming year to maintain and improve the financial position of the society.

Hello, my name is Sanjay Thekepatt. I am an incoming second year Economics and Finance student. I am intending to stand as the treasurer for the Economics Society for the upcoming academic year. My aims for the coming year are to work on bringing in more sponsors, try and minimise ticket prices for Econsoc events, work closely with the president and the rest of the society to ensure effective use of money, start a bank account to ensure efficient budgeting and management and provide financial reports and hold meetings for future strategies. I think I am great a fit for this position as treasurer as I am skilled at Excel and have experience creating financial models which is essential for a treasurer to ensure accurate usage of funds. I am an active communicator and a proficient leader. Having led school sport teams, I believe I have the right skillset to pursue my role as treasurer. I hope you find me eligible and suitable for this role as treasurer. I look forward to being part of the committee next year and put in my best efforts to ensure the best outcomes possible.
